Default Shopping for Remote Starter

Wife has a 2015 Fit and would like a remote start.
Is it worth saving a few dollars $200 and getting an aftermarket, I heard they all turn off when you open the door.
Also heard Honda doesn't make remote starters, their basically aftermarket.
I'm just worried about warranty issues. But I'm sure a aftermarket guy that installs remote starters every day can do a better job than dealer who installs them once in awhile.
Looking for everyone's thoughts on this.

Do yourself a favour...do not buy an aftemarket unit, even if it saves you $500, they're all garbage and will fail. Maybe not today, maybe not even next year, but they will fail and when they do you'll be stuck without a car until you can trace down the problem. They are low quality products that are designed to be universal and a consequence of their universality is that the installer will need to cut a million wires in your car to install it. Every cut wire is a potential failure point. I have seen countless "professionally installed" systems with twisted wires covered in a ball of electrical tape, not even soldered.

Putting an aftermarket system of this level of complexity into a brand new car is just stupid. I don't care where you go or "how experienced" the installer is, the guys who install these systems simply do not care about your car.

Buy the Honda unit, look at this link - Honda Fit Remote Starter PDF. Everything plugs in and just works. No splicing, no cutting wires, no soldering or shrink tube and best of all... no sloppy installer using electrical tape on his connections. Buy the Honda unit and go to Honda for them to install it. They know these cars inside and out and won't destroy anything while they do it.

Buy the Honda kit.

For any vehicle 2015 and up the remote start works as OP described, the car shuts off once the doors are open. Neither DEI nor Compustar have been able to figure this out.

I do always recommend the oem route because its a sure thing but if money is tight I'd get the compustar, complicated to install but once its in and programmed you're good to go. I've had mine for over 5 yrs now and still going, my connections are secured and no wires are crossing over to short circuit. Go my dads old truck on an alarm with remote start and he loves it, just doesn't understand the concept because as soon as the remote start kicks in he walks out the door and leaves. Suppose to let it warm up....
