New Honda Fit, looking for active forum
Honda-Tech has a very limited Honda Fit forum and it seems like it is incredibly inactive to me. Does anyone else use another forum for their Honda Fit needs? I haven't found a forum any more active than this in that regard myself. I do like to document 'build threads' AKA just little mods. Is this sub forum just my best bet?
I am coming from the world of 4th gen civics where there are several very active subforums and forums dedicated to what I was doing (turbo, swapping, drag racing, etc). Now I'm just looking to do basic lifestyle mods to this car (radio, interior changes, wheels/tires, etc).

That's sad to hear. Fitfreak isn't super active, but forums really aren't as active as they use to be. When I first started on this site, I would always have something to read in the 4th gen subforum.
Thanks for the reply though. I'm not really modifying this car anyway. I may go with Progress lowering springs and upgraded shocks in the future, but that is about all the 'performance' this car will ever see. I enjoy the 35-40 MPG average too much.

Be an innovator and try messing around with aero mods to improve MPG. You don't have to do it on the extreme level, I think it's possible to do in a tasteful manner.

I actually have been giving it a thought. Closing off the rear wheel wells and getting 'moon disc' hub caps are generally good a couple MPG on average each. Lowering, removing the passenger mirror, a grill block/smoothed front bumper, and a few other things all help. I do know that driving style will play a huge factor too, so I keep it below 3,000 RPM most of the time and manage good mileage without issue thus far. The lowest I got was 30 MPG around the city while I was getting a feel for the car in stop and go traffic. I've been averaging 35 MPG and I got considerably better mileage, 37-38 (maybe even 40), on the highway exclusively.

I'll look through some of the builds. I really am still in love with the 4th gen civic/CRX chassis though. I just get bummed when I'm searching for basic mods and there are barely any write ups online. For instance, the radio replacement was pretty annoying on the Fit and I could barely find any information on it. I'm not saying it was hard, but the screws on the back of the AC controls were tedious.

I think it is a GD3. It is a 2007 base model Fit; It has the 1.5L VTEC motor in it and it is 2WD. I've been a huge VTEC fanboy since I swapped the B16A into my little '89 Hatch and I will say that the Fit is definitely underwhelming haha. I'm surprised at the stock curb weight on these cars though. They really aren't all that heavy and may actually be a good candidate for a swap (not mine though).
I wish I had taken some more photos, I'd do a write up on the radio removal and install. I may be swapping the radio back out for a tablet, so I could always do that when the time comes again.
For now, I have to replace the throw out bearing.

I will say that it shifts incredibly smooth, the AC is beautiful and the seats are far more comfortable. Having four doors and the ability to comfortably transport just about anything is awesome. The car is super convenient and amazing, just not quick. I do like how they look too. Any quality of life mods that are common on these cars?

The resistance spring is a great idea. Fitfreak is down for me so I'll have to keep searching up some pictures for ideas. The drive by wire stuff has always felt too light for me. I struggle to maintain slow speeds in the Fit a lot of the time. For instance, 2,200 RPM in 5th may not even require my foot on the gas. I think some resistance will help with my driving habits and prevent my leg from feeling so tired on the highway.
EDIT: Like 2 minutes later I came up with some good photos. Seems super simple. As long as it isn't visible from the driver seat, I think the general idea I saw is fine. I'll probably pick up a spring this weekend and get to work on it.

I'm really trying to keep this thing on the road haha. I don't want to be working on it like I do my hatch. I'll finish something on my hatch, drive it for a few days, and get back to working on something else.

Re: New Honda Fit, looking for active forum
FitFreak USED to be really active.
Now that the GE/GK owners have largely proven to be old people who just want to complain about wind noise...it has died down in the last five years or so.
That said, sort the build threads on FF.net by posts or views, from highest to lowest. Some of them are really fun reads, we had a great group of dudes in the past.

You know how you notice more cars once you own one? I've seen dozens of Fits since I've been looking to buy one and now own one. I'd say 90% of the driver's I see are elderly with a handicap license plate haha.
