Do you guys REALLY like the fit?

Re: Do you guys REALLY like the fit? (Sandals)
I think the fit is an awesome car. I have been waiting for it to come here for awhile, and I am in a good position to buy one when it is available.
Decent looks, good mpg, honda fit and finish, honda reliability, great practicality. Something I can drive to work and on trips, and around town with my bicycles, or hauling motors from the machine shop.
Just about everything I ask for in a car. Double wishbone and IRS would be ideal, but can't ask for everything in a car.

The Fit seems like the car I've been looking for in terms of a daily driver. Something cheap, good on gas and built by Honda
...and I'm sure I'd be able to mod it if I ever felt like doing so.

When I was in Japan a few years ago these were EVERYWHERE. I saw a **** load of them sportin Volk's with like 60 year old grandpa's driving them. I liked them, too small of a car for me, but you never know.... Nice to see they decide to bring this to the market instead of the R34....... doh

I like the Fit. Great entry level Honda, and since they have been in JDM and UKDM for years, parts are going to relatively easy to find. and for 13k, it seems like a good deal.
edit---I just looked a few of the Mugen Fit/Jazz pictures. That is a damn good looking car.

Re: (civic duty)
The fit doesn't have IRS?
I personally don't like the looks of it (stock). But when modified it looks great. I think it will sell fairly well, because most of the small car maker's that its going to compete with have nowhere near the name value of Honda.

Works the same as any other IRS suspension, just uses torsion bar springs insteda of coil springs. Same principal as an anti-roll bar: as the suspension deflects it twists a bar, instead of compressing a spring (though coil springs are just a different application of torsion bars, but that's a different topic).

reliability of a Toyota vs a Honda is quite close IMO
Power about the same, I don't ahve the specs in front of me
Fuel economy, about the same as well if I remember correctly (Yaris might be a bit better).
The thing that the Yaris will outdo the Fit in is price. It's roughly $3000 cheaper.

I was thinking the same thing. Looks liek a slightly smaller 4-door version.

The cheapest Yaris hatchback is $10950. Honda says the base Fit will start around $13,000. So thats actually a $2000 difference.
However, keep in mind that at the low low price of $10,950, the Yaris does not have:
1) A radio.
2) ABS/EBD.
3) Side or side curtain airbags.
4) Power windows, mirrors, or door locks.
5) Rear window wiper or rear defroster.
6) Mulit-function rear seat.
So I guess if you really want a stripper car, then technically the Yaris is cheaper. But comparably equipped, the prices between the two will be very competetive.
Also, some features that are Fit unique:
1) Available 5AT w/paddle shifters whereas the Yaris has a 4AT.
2) Instrument panel for the Fit looks way better than the Yaris; and its mounted where its supposed to be, in front of the driver.
3) Cargo trunk area (with rear seats upright) is almost twice as big for the Fit.
4) You can carry a Ficus tree in the Fit, I dont think you can do this in the Yaris.

Re: Do you guys REALLY like the fit? (egzboy)
I don't think people should compare the Fit to the Yaris as much as they should comapre it to Scion's xA or xB. These are four-door hatches, the Yaris, of course is only a two-door hatch (at least in the U.S.).
