Default 08 fit issue with "parking" lights

the little orange lights seem to be not lighting up anymore at the top of the headlights when you click lock/unlock or have just parking lights on. i'm thinking it's due to corrosion but hoping it's not due to a loose or melted socket.

anyone else have this issue? i'm going to work on it this weekend hopefully. :D thanks.

The passenger side light went out on mine a couple of months ago. I am thinking it is just a blown bulb. It is a 25 minute DIY job, if it is anything like changing a headlight bulb. Besides limited access to that area behind the headlights, the job has to be done by "braille." The inner wheel well liner has to be pried back, and the front tire gets in the way. To get the most work space, I jack that side up, and either turn the wheel in, or remove the wheel all together. Regardless, access is difficult.
Are both of your lights out? If so, then hopefully it is just a blown fuse. I'd check that first before checking for a blown bulb.

You don't think you just need new bulbs? If they're old, I'd replace both sides, even if one of them still works.

And you might be able to change them out from the engine bay instead of from the wheel well - it's a tight squeeze but that's how I did it.

From your description, they react like blown bulbs. I am thinking that the reason they "come back on" is probably because the detached filament is being jolted into momentary contact.
When you smack the light, do both go on at the same time? If not, then my best guess is that you need new bulbs. If they both go on at the same time, then it might be something else, like a wiring issue.
BTW, before this problem surfaced, did you use something other than OEM lights? I can't see how your sockets would have melted.

Corrosion in the socket or bad grounds will cause those symptoms.

can't be a bad filiment, because the passengers side one is staying on now. i didn't get a chance to check it out over the weekend as i was too busy. i'll see what i can do soon.

these are the same OEM bulbs the car came with 91k miles and 4 years ago.. :D

may be. i pulled the bulbs out last night and tried a "control" bulb, aka a clear one i had lying around, and it worked. so i left the lights on and switched back to the orange bulbs. a little bit of wiggling and they worked. i'm going to swing by walmart tonight to pick up a pair and swap them out. they were both working this morning though and the housing/sockets seemed fine, except they were covered in dirty di-electric grease. but that's to be expected.

I have an 07 Honda Fit... I'm trying to replace the parking lights but am having difficulty. I got as far as pulling off the wire connection but can't remove the other part you're suppose to "twist" off. Is there a trick to taking that part off w/o having to take off the wheels?

I replaced my '13's parking lights with LED bulbs. The bulb terminals twist out of the headlight, but require some time and elbow grease to get them out. If you have LED's they may be polar which means the leads must line up with the cars positive and negative or current will not flow. If you have regular bulbs, i would get some di-electric terminal grease they sell it at autozone.

After reading the manual turning the wheel, I thought there had to be a better way. Found YouTube video to change from engine compartment but is a tight squeeze. I also read comments here. Have a 2008 Honda Fit Sport. Found that by removing a plastic cover next to the battery, flat plastic tabs. Then removing the screw and 10mm bolt to the light casing, I was able to get just enough room to change the bulb. On the passenger side just the screw and nut, no plastic covering. I am wondering if the manual was written for the Fit, and used for the Sport as well without noting the differences in some places.
