that's pretty bad but then again, I have no idea how long you sit in traffic, idling... If I didn't have such a steep hill to climb everyday, I would be averaging 40+ mpg in my civic during city driving alone. Then again I do have a manual instead of an autotragic.

I had an '07 Fit Sport A/T myself and was experiencing the exact same results. I couldn't believe it. I traded it after only owning it for a short time.

I'm back in the market again and thinking about a M/T Fit Sport this time. I like the looks of the 09+ better as well. What kind of MPG are you 09+ Fit Sport M/T owners getting now?

Just a heads up running higher psi then recommended does give you better gas mileage because it casues less drag on the car but it will also cause un-even wear on the tires, not to mention it can cause a blow out so, it is not a safe thing to do. Just my 2 cents.

Both of those negatives are very tenuous and highly dependent on circumstances and other factors. Higher pressure won't necessarily cause a blowout and if anything should reduce the risk of a blowout caused by an overheating tire since there is less flex which means less heat being created. Higher pressure also doesn't necessarily mean uneven tire wear and in fact in some instances means more even tire wear especially if you're inclined to take corners quickly. Only time I've seen tires wear down the center are usually on the rears of unloaded pickup trucks.

Is there a difference in mpg in a 2012 fit versus one before the body change (2007ish models)? Thinking about buying a fit and I want a new one. What about a difference between base or sport?

getting new light weight wheels and tires makes a big difference. 10 lb or less rims can be had in 15 inch rims

Over-inflation of tires has caused the centre tread of my tires to wear; Under-inflation has caused the edges of my tires to wear. Period! Just normal usage involved

Well it's always vehicle specific, so in your case of 'over inflation' what were the pressures we're talking about you inflated to and what are the recommended pressures? Again, not all vehicles respond to 'over inflation' the same way as 'over inflation' is a relative term.

What ever gasoline gives the best fuel economy but also factoring in the price difference between the grades. I think that unless the difference is more than around 10-15% between the two grades, stick with the cheaper stuff unless of course your car doesn't run well with the lower grade. Older cars with no variable valve timing (iVtec, VVTI-yes, VTEC NO!) that are specified for Premium should probably stick with premium fuel. True cam phasing like that in the iVtec and VVTI allow the valve timing to be adjusted along with the spark ignition so that the car doesn't damage itself. Also, Honda Knock sensors aren't very good fyi.

Hi everyone,

I have a 2010 1.2l manual Jazz (Fit in the US) and I have not measured the FE by topping up the tank. I just go by the computer FE figure. However, the figure I get is (currently) 24.1 kmpl and the max I got was 26.2 kmpl (over a distance of about 280 kms). This translates to about 57mpg to 62mpg.

I recall reading somewhere that the computer calculated mpg figures were very optimistic. I wanted to ask if anyone had compared their manual calculation to the computer figure and how accurate(or otherwise) they were.

Doesn't this throw off the calculation?
I am assuming you now have more gas in the tank than the trip computer is expecting? (basically, full = "Full", full + 1.5 gal still = "Full").

I've got 2010 Fit Sport AT, and now in winter and 100% city driving in D position of gear box i received 22 MPG and in S mode 24 MPG, always shift at 2-2,5k rpm is it normal ?
Av distance 3-6 miles.

Before Fit i've got Abarth Grande Punto (160HP@230Nm) in the same conditions was 28 MPG.
Fit is nice car but i think something is wrong...

I have a 2009 Honda fit Sport Stick. I get about 46mpg. Lots of country roads, some city driving.

I'm very happy with my 2009 Jap import CVT FIT mpg
i do a 60 mile motorway trip every other week and usually keep my speed to around 55mph and when i arrive my display tells me i have averaged 23km/L
i reckon thats 65 miles to a gallon
the best i have achieved on a straight run is 24.4 kilometers to a litre which turns out to be 69mpg!!
petrol here is ron 96 and not mixed
