Windsheild gutter leak fix
I cooked up a fix for a seemingly common issue with water leaking over the gutter at the base of the windshield on 1st gen CRV's directly into the blower motor inlet and then the rug/floor.
Replaced the cabin filter while I was at it, and realized my leak fix might also prevent/reduce the amount of crap making its way to this filter
My previous fix involved cleaning the built-up sediment in the gutter(which causes the leak) and applying some sealant (light brown in this shot) to the lip to keep the water from dripping over it.

Re: Windsheild gutter leak fix
Having a long drill bit would make it a heck of a lot easier, but I managed to bend the blower inlet piece enough to drill 2 holes and not bugger it so much that the rivets wouldn't hold.
I bent the whole piece enough to block any water that may drip over the edge of the gutter and the 2 top corners to make it a little less floppy.
Not the greatest shots, or write-up, but hopefully you get the idea.

DO IT ON ALL FOURS
Re: Windsheild gutter leak fix
Definitely a different way to do that fix, but as long as it works for you. I personally cut out a sheet and TIG stich welded it to the deflector. I would be too concerned of vibration issues with rivets and flashing; then again I have some pretty stiff mounts all around...

Re: Windsheild gutter leak fix
I did sort of the same thing but I used a piece of copper and self tappers.
However down the road I noticed my drivers side floor getting wet. I tried everything but what ultimately fixed it was replacing the worn out old foam gasket on tyhe underside of the plastic cowling.
I used the weather king stuff you can get at Lowes that is 1/4" and for home doors and windows. This resolved my leak. I am assuming that water in heavy rain situations would overcome the weakened foam and build up enough in the area under the wipers to where it could find a seam to penetrate before it drained.
It was hard to figure out because I couldn't ever get to see the water coming it. it was flowing in behind things and never manifested itself even with a garden hose running. I would get a wet floor board but never be able to see the water flowing.
If you haven't replaced that gasket it's probably not a bad idea.

Re: Windsheild gutter leak fix
this is how I did mine originally but it still gets water in there. so my only full fix has been duct tape at the bottom of the windshield until im motivated enough to fix it.

Re: Windsheild gutter leak fix
do you have loose clips? I bought a whole bunch off ebay to replace broken or weak ones to hold the cowling down better.

Loose clips sink ships
good idea, none of the clips on mine are tight like they should be
foam could be updated too.
I'll wait until I see a leak though - if it ain't broke and all that
