Weird Transmission/Electrical problems 1st gen CR-V
To start off with, I've got a 1999 Honda CR-V AWD EX automatic.
Anyways, a few months or so ago the engine light came on, apparently it was some sort of sensor, didn't have time so I couldn't get it checked (I don't have a clue if that was needed, just throwing the whole story into the jist). A few days ago the light went off. As I was saying, a few days ago I installed a new sound system into my CR-V. I woke up that day, drove to the store, bought some wiring and came home, parked in the sun (bad idea) and started replacing speakers, and taking apart the deck to replace the cd deck. I replaced all the speakers, and tested the new stereo, it worked fine. I thought to myself, "It's hot as *****, I'm gunna move into the shade" (Florida + Summer = Heat Stroke). I moved the car forward, then backwards into my lawn. I then proceeded to take the battery out to get a nice look at the firewalls, found a good spot, installed all the wiring, blah blah. Installed the rest of the system, it worked fine. Then I started the car up, and went to move out of the lawn (lawn guy was coming in the morning), as I applied the brake, and moved the shifter I knew something was wrong (Check engine light also had returned). The instant I went from park to neutral, to reverse, to drive, each shift made the car jump and lurch forward, not in a tire-moving motion, but like the vehicle was popping, which had never happened before. When placed in Drive, it didn't move unless you give it a little gas up to about 2000 or so RPM, then it slowly moves forward, as if I was in drive with the brake disengaged (Also, I was in some thick grass, so it may have effected it some, but nowhere near enough to get this little of power). Also, it moved forward enough, and when i tried to get onto my driveway, which had maybe a 4 inch sloped rise (Side of brick pavers) up to 3500 RPM wouldn't get the front tires onto the driveway. Also, it worked 100% in reverse, almost as if nothing was wrong.
To be honest I was rather pissed, I just got sound system! Anyways, I've got no clue what it is, and what its going to take to fix it. My uncles friend who is a mechanic cant look at it for another few days (Car broke down last Wednesday, and I post this on a Sunday), and I need to know if I'm taking the system back out or not (I'm not going to put 2 grand into this guy, as nice as it is, it's value isn't enough for that kind of investment. I'll have to look around for another car).
Also, my dad looked at it, and since it was AWD, he thought it was maybe the syncronizer, or the solenoids.
tl;dr transmission started acting up after battery disconnect/stereo system install.

DO IT ON ALL FOURS
Re: Weird Transmission/Electrical problems 1st gen CR-V
What? Have the codes checked at a local parts store. Nobody can help you without the code for reference since your story, while long and detailed, is about the wrong type of details and lacking information to actually help you. Cars aren't magic, they have specific diagnostic procedures to follow.

I understand this, I just literally have no clue what needs to be put out there. Ask some questions, I will surely deliver.
