Towing with my 1999 Lx 5spd questions...
I have to make a 6 hour trip from western NY to south western PA at the end of this month and want to bring my Recon 250 with me. I'm pretty sure I will be set, but I wanted some second opinions...
The trailer I am getting has a dry weight of 300lbs. My ATV has a dry weight of 425lbs, so 725lbs dry weight total between the both. After a bunch of research, I found different ratings for the maximum towing capacity for the 1st gen Cr-V's. One site says 1,000lbs between the both, one forum says 1,500lbs between the both, then one says 3,000 if the trailer has electric brakes (which obviously, mine does not have.)
I think it would be safe to assume that I will be safe only towing ~725lbs for the trip, but just wanted a second opinion(s).
Also, any suggestions as to a decent scale for determining my tounge weight? I was thinking about just using my personal (for humans,) electric scale, throwing a block of wood in-between the tounge and scale, then load the ATV on the back and slowly work my way forward till I find a "sweet spot."...?

Thanks for the info! I picked up my trailer yesterday, and will be making practice drives around my town to get a feel for it and see how she does.
