Default RD1 Water Leaking Issue Resolved

Okay this issue has been beaten like a dead horse and I KNOW. the passenger side leaks through the outside air intake when raining heavily.

Well I resolved that issue over a year ago with a piece of metal above the intake.

however I had another leak issue that I could not source for the life of me. this leak was in the drivers side. I would never see/hear/trace the source of the leak and this was the biggest problem for me because the passenger side you could see it coming in during heavy raining.

My drivers side floor board would fill up with water and I was left to just having to put towels down to sop up water.

One nice day I decided to try and water proof the **** out of the car to hopefully fix the leak. First thing first I bought flowable silicone and coated the molding on the front windshield in hopes that maybe the windshield was leaking.

The following rain did not fix the issue.

The I had to wait for a good day to really get into it.

I removed the hood from the car so I could remove the cowling and I inspected and guessed that this was the issue but still wasn't sure. So I removed all of the old foam weatherstripping and bought 1/4" foam weather stripping/seal from Lowes and replaced all of the foam on the cowling with this. I was hoping and guessing this was the problem as some was missing. My idea was that it wasn't slowing or stopping the flow of water and allowing the area under the cowling to get overwhelmed and leak into the passenger compartment somehow somewhere.

Last week we got almost 6 inches of rain in a 24 hour period and my drivers side floor board was bone dry after.

So if your cowling foam seal is old and falling apart and you live in a rainy area it may be a good idea to try and replace that one day.

There's nothing worse than getting in your car and seeing that from all the moisture inside the car that the condensation on the inside of the window is thick enough to bead and flow.
