P1259 and limp mode, but only on cold engine?
Hey everyone,
My recently bought 2003 CRV with 200 000 km throws the following error codes:
-P1166 oxygen sensor <- apparently this one has been on for 2 years. I ordered a Denso sensor, will replace when the weather is warmer.
-P1259 VTEC malfunction. If I clear the code and let the engine warm up for 5 minutes, then I never get this code. If I dont let the engine warm up long enough then I will get the code and get into limp mode. If I turn the engine off then on at a traffic light after the engine has warmed long enough then I am out of limp mode and can use VTEC again.
-P0325 <-- very intermittent, not every day.
--------------------
I have done a synthetic 5W20 oil change (didnt help) and I ordered a new spool valve assembly from China that will hopefully solve the VTEC issue.
What I am looking for is an explanation: why would I only get the VTEC issue on a cold engine?
---------------------
thanks!

I replaced the whole assembly at I think it fixed it. The VTEC gasket and screen seemed as clean as the new one, so it was probably something else.
yay!

Hiya,
You may have a low oil pump pressure, so you need to check your Vtec pressure switch – Also when you remove the pressure switch, check your oil pressure at tick-over and high revs. approx. 3k rpm.
