Default News concerning the redesigned VTC actuator

According to my local Honda dealer and the district representative a new VTC actuator would be available before the end of this year, 2015. Does anyone have any additional information concerning the redesigned part?
Below is the information I received concerning the new part and Honda’s plan to cover replacing the part as my Powertrain warranty on my 2012 CRV is getting close to the 60,000 mile limit.

In my case the ratting of the VTC actuator is occurring on the first start of the day and now on virtually every start during the day.

The following content is from the invoice I received when I dropped my car off to address the VTC actuator rattling on start up:
A V-TEC ACTUATOR MAKING NOISE ON EVERY START UP HOT OR COLD
54 DIAG RATTLE ON COLD START
99 CHP
PARTS: 0. 00 LABOR: 0. 00 OTHER: 0.00 TOTAL LINE A: 0. 00
TECH VERIFIED CONCERN ON START UP FIRST THING IN THE MORNING AND
FOUND THE VTC ACTUATOR IS RATTLING. ONTARIO HONDA DID CALL
THE DISTRICT REP. WE WERE ADVISED THAT THERE IS NO FIX AT THIS POINT IN TIME AND
THAT THERE WILL BE A FIX BEFORE THE TURN OF THE YEAR. REPLACING THE VTC
ACTUATOR WILL BE AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER REGARDLESS OF VEHICLE
BEING OUT OF POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BY THE TIME THE FIX IS AVAILABLE.

My 2011 Accord started to rattle in January so I took it to the dealership. The VTC actuator was the culprit and was told to call in a couple of months since Honda was working on redesigning the part and there was no fix. My car was 2 months past 5 years warranty and 45000 miles.

This week called the dealership, and found that on Mar 17 2016, Honda released a TSB covering the VTC actuator along with a redesigned part. The car was 5 months past warranty. Hooray I said full of hope.

Next day took the car to the same dealership. All good, until the service rep called me saying that I have to pay $786 for the repairs. How can Honda ask for money when they needed 8 years to get to the bottom of this issue?

BTW, I was told that the TSB covers 4-cylinder Accord from 2008 to 2012.

I paid to have it fixed, then I called Honda and opened a case with them. At this point, this is not about money, it is about Honda owning the issue and making right for its customers who used to appreciate Honda engineering. I chose Accord because I wanted to keep my car for many years, but maybe a car with 10 years warranty is the way to go. At least for me.

All car makers have issues, but owning an issue and taking responsibility is what makes the difference. I am not used to post on blogs, but I have researched this issue for a while and thought that this would help someone else.

Honda. What?
Thanks for your post. I make an appointment with my dealer and they replaced the VTC actuator in my 2012 CRV with the redesigned part at no charge. Hope this helps you.

Is there a redesigned part to fix my 2012 CRV that rattles every cold start and Honda Customer Service said that there is no warranty after 5 years or more than 60K, my CRV has 81K.
