Need help with rough idle 98 CRV
hello all, i own a 1998 CRV LX and i've been battling a rough idle issue for a while without any luck. no CEL's are thrown and doesn't seem to be an ignition issue, to me at least.
symptoms:
- will idle rough for about the first five minutes of the drive. can also feel it at low speed while coming to a stop.
- idle will be so rough that the AC will struggle to stay on at idle. you can hear it clicking to engage and disengage constantly. AC is left off to avoid breaking the compressor/clutch
- appears to happen moreso on hotter days especially when the car has been sitting in the sun
things tried so far:
- thought it might've been a motor mount issue. they were bad anyway at 198k miles. replaced all motor mounts
- spark plugs and wires
- cleaned FITV (wasn't really too dirty)
- cleaned IACV with new gasket (this one was dirty)
- replaced fuel filter
- replaced PCV
does anyone have any other suggestions? i see the IACV has an allen key bolt on the side of it. should i try unscrewing that to take the valve apart for further cleaning?
any help is much appreciated. thanks in advance
