Multiplex control unit?

Multiplex control unit?
04
Element LX 4wd
Hey guys/gals,
New element owner.. I have had my car for a about 3 weeks and loved it so far. I am having a issue now though.
My wind shield wipers turn on(front and back) when I put my right turn signal on. I took it to a auto electric shop and they said they are 90% sure its the Multiplex control unit. They did not fix it as I need to get the part from Honda.
Any one have the part number and a walk through DIY(rather do it myself)?
** Update: My running lights both front and rear, dash lights, and buzzer for when the headlights are on and keys out of ignition are not working as well. Did not realize until tonight as I drive in the day mostly. Is this something a bad multiplex control unit will do?

Re: Multiplex control unit?
I dont know how it is in an element. But on my 02 crv the multiplex control unit was part of the cabin/inside fuse box. One day leaving from work I got to my car and the keyless entry wouldnt work. Then when I started it, the brake light was on and my windshield wipers only worked on high speed. It was like my car was possessed. After doing some researching I found out it was the multiplex unit. Brand new, honda wanted over $200 shipped. I took the part number of my cabin fuse box and found a used one on ebay for $100.

Re: Multiplex control unit?
Do you have a trailer hitch and plug on your element. Cuz i found a few issues people were having with corroded trailer harness cuzing issues with the turn signals.
heres a honda recall on it:
http://www.iseecars.com/car/2005-honda-element-recalls
Heres something i found with your headlight buzzer issue, Supposibly its a common issue. It has to do with the door switch connecter coming lose. Just read through the posts.
http://www.elementownersclub.com/for...ad.php?t=56237
Copy and paste this into a google search,
"Multiplex Control System 22-148" (without quote symbols)when you click on it you can either save it or just open the file. It shows exactly what the multiplex unit controls and how it works on 04-05 honda elements. And it gives a troubleshooting proceduure to check for problems. And in the list of what it controls you see it controls the door buzzer, wipers, door locks, etc, etc, etc.
I also read on a honda ridgeline forum, that some people with wiper and turn signal issues, one person had a bad wire harness connector on the multiplex/fuse box and a few other people had bad headlight/turnsignal control stalks (black handle/stick behind steering wheel).
Thats all I could find. Hopefully some of it helps or leads you in the right direction. Good Luck.....

I don't have a trailer hitch. I read through the multiplex diagnostic and will attempt to do it today. I don't think it is that as I put a brand new one in. Going to double check all grounds and fuses. Worst case scenario it's going to the dealership Monday. I will keep this thread updated.

Re: Multiplex control unit?
Update: The auto shop i went to Anchorage Auto Electric obviously didn't check my fuses. Fixed the running lights and dash by replacing the underhood fuse. Oddly the front windshield wiper stopped going off when I put the right turn signal on but the rear wiper still goes off..
