Default Getting back into the Honda scene! Just got a 99 CRV!!

Okay guys I just purchased a 99 CRV EX with 200k miles and deciding to get back into modding it. Been out of the scene for a good while now after my eg and dc were stolen. The car runs great, still strong and pulls nicely. Clean motor, no oil leaks or anything...no rust, etc.

However, like most older CRVs it makes clunking noises every time it hits a bump or hole on the road at lower speeds below 40mph. Anything over or with a full load in the vehicle, the clunking seems to be non-existent. Has any of you experienced this and wondering what I should replace first. This is my first SUV and would like someone with first hand experience to point me towards the right direction.

btw, I'll post pictures of my ride up after the snow clears.

probably a ball joint, or maybe a tie rod. Dont think of it as an SUV. Its just a lifted Civic with different pannels.

LDForget, if you don't mind could you go more into details about your build and what parts you used? Very interested at your suspension and seats.

yeah i had this same problem with my 99 crv i looked over the front end and found that it was the lower control arm bushings especially the bushing that holds the strut on. i bought two new front lca's and it drove as straight as a dime until my wife wrote the thing off a month ago, went out tonight and just bought a 01 crv-se haha. anyways good luck with the build..

My seats are out of a 93 prelude. Their heated/leather. I used the CRV bases with longer bolts going to the seats themselves with some washers as spacers where needed. I adapted the wiring going to a oem heated seat button on the dash under the power window switches. For my suspension i got KYB GR2 Nitrogen charged shocks for a 98 CRV and 90-97 accord Skunk2 Sleeve type coilovers. I had to cut the perches off the rear in order to fit the coilover on, but it fits fine in the front. I think it looks better cut off anyways. In retrospec i wish i had bought shorter shocks and im sure theyd last longer and have a slightly better ride, although i like the ride as it is. The skunk2 coilovers are a 10/10 coil, so its not too hard. From what i hear the integra type r front shocks and dsm 1g rear shocks are the way to go. If i can sell my setup to someone local i might be interested in swapping, but not planning on it anytime soon. What i am planning on though is making some civic lower control arms fit that sit a little lower, so i can get more shock shaft movement. We'll see what happens. If you have any more questions dont fear to ask.
