Default auto AWD trans confusion.. 97/98 vs 99-01 vs JDM

Hi All,

I need to replace a trans in a 1999 Auto AWD CRV.. I tried to do homework reading through threads but seems there is not a lot of consensus out there on what actually is compatible and works..

Is there anyone that has direct experience that can answer?

I know the trans PNs are different but, will a transmission from a 97 directly bolt up and work in the 99? Do I need to get anything else from a 97 and swap in? The 97 trans I located has high miles but they say works well.

I see JDM transmissions on ebay for a decent price, but I am reading online these will throw a code.. but then other threads say they will not throw a code.. any ideas?

thanks much

I know the 99-01 has an overdrive button and the 97-98 don't.

Should bolt up, but if your crv came with an overdrive, no.
