Re: 98 crv miss after tune up
Are you sure it is an ignition issue? The reason why I ask is that those engines need incremental valve adjustments. Furthermore, they commonly burn exhaust valves. Either scenario will lead to the car running like it has an ignition miss.

What all did u replace for the "tune-up"? Also, what spark plug gap did u go with and have you inspected the plugs to ensure they have proper gap. Did u replace wires? If not, u need to test them to see how high the resistance is...

Re: 98 crv miss after tune up
I am a car guy. plug's ngk wire's cap rotor. all of it oem . I check the gap on all the plug's I put in. lot easer and less work . it does not sound like a valve. I am checking the valves in the morning so I will look. the spark looked weak on that cyl than on the rest

DO IT ON ALL FOURS
Re: 98 crv miss after tune up
So you used a spark gauge to check the weak spark? The coil and igniter have no way of knowing when to stop firing at a specific cylinder. Use your bore scope and inspect the valves. Do a compression and leak-down test to verify engine health. Most that have this specific problem with parts changed correctly ends up being burnt valves. Good luck.

No I didn't have allmy tools with me. I could see that it was weaker just by putting a different plug in that plug wire. Goes from hot blue spark to dull orange. Like you would see on a old 70' v8 Delco or autolite. Put it back in the other cyl. It's back to blue.
