2015 Honda CR-V Smart Entry System
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and looking for some answers, I just bought a new 2015 Honda CR-V with smart entry system push button start last week and had the dealer install a one button compustar remote starter. That's the system they use if you don't want pay the price for the Honda remote start. Well, the question is after you remote start the vehicle shouldn't the vehicle stay running after you unlock the door to get in? As soon as you open the door the car shouts down and you have to restart the car with the push button, makes no sense to me. The dealer is telling me, because its a safety concern and because of the smart entry system that's the way it has to be so no one can steal the car. What do you think, is it the truth or are they feeding me a bunch of crap. Doesn't sound like the smart system is too smart to me. Thanks

This is what happens when people are too cheap to install factory options.
See this all the time at my dealership, and it has nothing to do with the car but the person who installs your aftermarket accessories. It is not normal and they should fix it.

I think they wired the alarm incorrectly. Normally the car shuts off it a ground signal is present to any of the trigger alarms. In saying so I believe that when you unlock your door you have not disarm the alarm properly, instead just unlocked the doors.
Which remote are you using to unlock your doors, what model compustar did they install on your crv?

I tried unlocking the door with the factory and compustar remote and the car still shuts off when I open the door. The Dealer told me it has to be that way because of the Smart Entry System or someone can steal the car. Its a Compustar cs 601s one button remote start. Any info would be great thanks.

What model remote start did they install? I wonder if they installed the blade to bypass the immobilizer.
My bad, skipped where you had info on the model #. Looking it up.

How much did they charge you for the install, this doesn't even sound right. The engine is suppose to keep running even when you open the door. But if the key isn't present for more than 30 secs (depending how its set up) or someone steps on the brake pedal than the engine shuts off. Do your parking lights blink when you open your door?

Ok sorry I didn't get back to last night I was at work. So when I got home today I remote started the car from inside the house and I left the smart key in the house to see if the car was unlocked and it was. So when the car is remote started the drive door unlocks. Now isn't that the opposite of what the traditional remote starter would do? I have a remote starter on my truck and when it starts the doors lock.

Correct, its not suppose to unlock your car. Your doors are suppose to be locked. My compustar, and the rest of my installs, have always kept the doors lock when the remote start functioned. Not to mention the car would stay running when I open the door. As state before, the only time the remote start shut off is if I step on the brakes with no key in the ignition in the 2nd position. Quite obvious that the wiring was done wrong somewhere, or they intentionally did wired it that way. The car cannot be stolen anyways because if they try to move they car, they have to step on the brakes to get it out of park. No key, no go.

Have you any experience with the honda vehicles like mine, smart key, just a fob, no actual key. So how should it work? Remote start the vehicle, unlock the door to get in, once in the car with the fob than press the push to start button and than it should stay ruining? Just wanna say thanks for your time.

Re: 2015 Honda CR-V Smart Entry System
I've already contact support @compustar to see what they have to say about these newe 2015 honda's. This has really got my attention. I like compustar and they are the only system I install on my families car. I don't hate viper, its just that they have so many installers and I also witness one persons remote unlocking a different car. So I got worried and looked into alternatives. The only company that stood up there with Viper was Compustar. Super easy to install if you know how relay's work and what wires to use, you can depin any wires that aren't in use to keep the install simple and clean.

FYI when I'm referring to your key I mean that little plastic piece that you carry around, not an actual key.

Re: 2015 Honda CR-V Smart Entry System
Just wanted to update on my findings and confirming. It seems the reason why the car shuts off when the door is opened is because the key needs to sync with the imobilizer system. At this currrent time there is no way around that. So from my understanding of the system. The bypass module is used to start the car, but once you unlock it with the compustar remote and open the door the engineshuts off and allows the key to sync up with your car. There doesn't seem to be a smooth transition from bypass to key right now.

Re: 2015 Honda CR-V Smart Entry System
Hi there:
Hope someone can help me. 6 month ago I leased a Honda CRV 2015 and had an iphone. The iphone worked with the touchscreen for everything and the navigation. Had to switch phones and got the Samsung Note 5. Have not been able to get the phone to show on the screen. Then I got an itouch and downloaded the app for Hondalink. It works but when I use it with the itouch it does not move when the car moves. So, that is out. Then I go to Best Buy. They told me that the Samsung Note 5 does not have hdmi capabilities but you can mirrorlink it. Tried that and it didn't work.
However, it does work for the phone part, just not the navigation. I wrote and spoke to both Samsung and Hondalink. Honda stated that they have no idea how to do it. I got an email from the dealership and emailed them this:
I am actually pretty upset. Since I have moved to Florida, I had to switch my cell phone and its carrier. When I used my iPhone (previously had) I had no issues with the touch screen in the car or it syncing. NOW, that I have a Samsung, it cannot use the Honda Link app or anything that has to do with the screen. I am very upset as I was led to believe that the system can be used with this car. I have been struggling for months to figure it out, neither Honda nor Samsung can tell me how to do this and there is no way, even searching on the internet to get this done. I have spent well over $400 for the accessories to try and make this happen with no success. In addition, I found out from sources that Honda has the capability to sync with an Android phone in the new cars for 2016.
I was told that I need to bypass the security system and/or get the model number of the touchscreen in the car.
Does anyone know how to do this or some other alternative so that I don't have to spend more time and money?
