'02 CR-V Temp Gauge Issue
My wife recently purchased an '02 CR-V and it's been a great vehicle in general. We've run into one issue and it keeps spiraling worse and worse.
I was driving it one night and noticed the temp gauge was reading hot. It was a cool night and we were at highway speed and it was reading at just below the red. The next morning she took it to a shop and they diagnosed the ECT sensor. I did a little research and decided I could fix it myself so I bought the part and fixed it according to the Honda Service manual. After fixing it I noticed that the gauge was reading on the opposite side (the 9 o'clock range). My wife said it was like that after she left the shop. The shop wasn't willing to look at it again for free because I fixed it.
After a few more days, it has settled to about 7 o'clock and doesn't move when the vehicle gets warm. I ran the Gauge Assembly self diagnosis and you can see it twitch but it never resets itself. I've also tried burping the coolant system to no avail.
Anyone have any troubleshooting ideas before I try and track down a new gauge cluster? Any more information needed?
