'01 Honda CR-V: Misfires after EVERYTHING!
Hey guys, my '01 CR-V is giving me multiple misfire codes (p0301,p0302,p0304,p0300,p1399). I replaced the distributor cap and rotor, plugs (NGK's) and wires.
The engine light went off for a week, then came back on. Same misfire codes. Took it in for a compression test and diagnostic. Compression was great and valve adjustment was recommended (obviously).
Several hours after picking the car up from the shop the engine light came on again. It's been 3 days and over 150 miles since the valve adjustment (so I've gone through several drive cycles) but the light remains with the misfire codes.
The car runs very well: no loss of power, no rough idle, no nuttin'.
Help me!!!!!

Check to make sure the ground wire running from the valve cover to the frame has a good connection.
I'm not too optimistic that it's your problem, just the first thing I thought of.
Also, are your plugs set at the proper gap?

Good catch on the ground wire, the geniuses that did that valve adjustment didn't attach it back to the valve cover. I bolted it back on.
I haven't checked the gaps on the plugs. I'll do that.
Would the ground wire disconnection trip the check engine light misfire codes?

Disconnect battery, wait like 10 minutes. Re-connect and drive. See if the codes come back. Also, if you got NGK plugs, they are pre-gapped.

Your fault code readings are misfire cyl 1 ,2 ,4 and p0300 is random misfire. But code p1399 doesn't exist ,at least not on the chart for OBD-11 that's in front of me . There is however code p1359 which crankshaft position sensor . Also code p0139 ,which basically oxygen sensor or O2 sensor . Mabye these are the codes you were referring to. From experience random misfire , that gives an engine check light nearly always points to oxygen sensor as a bad 02 sensor will play havoc engine management .

The O2 sensor is a possibility, but the thing is my mpg hasn't been affected much. Just got 22 mpg combined on a whole tank with the misfire codes.

To be honest , 22 mpg in Crv gen 1 b20z is poor. The Honda Element will return that milage easily and its far heavier than the V. But I don't know how heavy your right foot is either ha ha .Random misfires rarely throw an engine check light unless there is a sensor problem causing the the misfire. I know I'm not of much help but it's impossible without the car in front of me to rule out the obvious things .

try a coil inside the distributor. My cr-v developed a similar problem a few months ago. did a tune up and didn't go away. did a valve adjustment and didn't go away. ended up replacing the coil out of chance and have had zero problems since

know your ignition system tests since most of the components bite the big one eventually.
