Damn newb, you can be nice and answer
Assuming all head swaps are going to a D16A6 block
DOHC ZC - Headbolt pattern is different, will not work.
SOHC ZC - Same head as the D16A6, bolt-on replacement
D15B - Same head as the D16Z6, bolt-on replacement

The last part of your statement is true, but the usdm and jdm engines don't really have any physical differences which would prohibit a head swap. All d-series sohc engines should be able to swap heads. I don't really see why you would want to, unless you have one head and one block sitting around or something. DOHC ZC head will NOT go onto a SOHC block. It is possible, but with alot of welding and probably duct tape. Basically just don't do that.
p.s. the d16a1 doesn't bolt directly into any civic, and I don't believe mount kits are made for it.
