Default Wiring problems with fuel pump

I bought an yellow 89 crx si shell. It had a stock A6 in it that blew before I bought it. I put a D16Y7 in it and it wouldn't start. I figured out the fuel pump was not priming. I checked all the fuses, grounds, etc. But stupid me decided to replace the fuel pump. I replaced the fuel pump with a brand new one and it still wouldn't start. I did some research on here and I still can't figure it out.
I ran a positive wire directly from the battery to the fuel pump connector under the tool tray, and the fuel pump primed. And I ran the positive wire to the main relay and the fuel pump primed. Both without the key in the ignition.

*The main relay is good
*The fuel pump is good
*The fuses are good(unless there is a hidden one that I didn't check)

I can get the crx to start by running a direct positive wire to fuel pump.
But I would rather fix the problem and not run a fuel cut-off switch.

Any suggestions??
TIA

is your ignition switch good? since everything works when you bypass it that just makes me wonder... also check the wires that run from your ignition switch to the fuse box under the dash... stopped me from starting once because that plug came loose

The key is harder to turn than my other crxs.
Would the ignition switch cause the fuel pump not to prime?? But still start the car if the fuel pump is jumped?

Its possible, i'd measure the resistance and voltage on the switch between the battery input and the acc1 and acc2 outputs when the key is respectively in those positions. measure the resistance with the battery disconnected.

You should see a fairly low resistance (less than 50 ohm), but if its high (greater than 50k ohm) then its likely a problem.

If the ignition switch was bad, would it make the 6 beeps in the on position? My dash lights all turn on, the check light turns on for 1 second and turns off.

Check the yellow/black wire at the pgm-fi relay. if it has power the you have an open between the relay and the pump. If there is no power check fuse #2 in the under dash fuse box 10A.

Let us know...........

There is a few black and yellow wires at the main relay.

I took apart the ignition switch and cleaned everything. The fuel pump still won't prime.

Please help.

That would cause the fuel pump not to prime?????
I can get the crx to start but I have to hot wire the fuel pump, because the fuel pump won't turn on when the key is turned to the "on" position.
