Default windshield wipers

after a snow/ice storm i was cleaning off my car and eventually found that the windshield wipers did not work anylong. The rear wiper works fine, and the front will eventually make its way to about 1/2-3/4 of the way up as i drive and then ill pull down just to "clear" the windshield and the driver side wiper will continue to go until if its off the windshield and smack my mirror..
could this be the motor and gears being stripped?
Where can i look to find the problem.

i was just ou messing wit them again and they start going, for mybe 10 degrees or so, then stop, if i move them they will go only by my help. then once they are all the way up it seems like they feel they are at the bottom of the windshield and then will work..

I believe its stipped since it just gives up at that half way mark, let me kno what you think

when mine was stripped it didn't move at all! Check your linkage.... weird it happened after snow and ice...maybe something is stuck or blocked with ice

maybe he tried to turn them on with 50lbs of ice on his windsheild and stripped the motor output shaft.. lol...

if tightening down the bolts doesnt work, you probably need new motors. .

thats why you always clean your windsheild off before turning your wipers on. or do what i do, if i kno its gonna snow, pull the arms up off the windsheild. i see this all the time since i work at auto zone and people come there all the time askin why there wiper blades dont work anymore. i go out and eather there coverd in 50 pounds of snow and ice or they tell me "my wipers were coverd in snow and they were stuck to the windsheild, and when i turned them on nothing happend."
