Where were the EFs manufactured?
The reason I ask is because my friend's Si says "made in Canada" and mine says "made in Japan". Were any EF's made in USA? Is there any difference between the ones manufactured in Japan or some other place?

Check the vins:
1990 - 1998
1st POSITION NATION OF ORIGIN
1 = USA
2 = Canada
3 = Mexico
J = Japan
K = Korea
V = France
1983 - 1989
1st POSITION NATION OF ORIGIN
1 = USA
2 = Canada
3 = Mexico
J = Japan
K = Korea
V = France
taken from http://members.lycos.nl/hendrik/honda/vin.htm
example
my vin starts: JHMED9
J=Japan
H=Honda
M=Passenger Car, Built in Japan (would be G if in USA/Canada, L if Multi purpose passenger vehicle)
ED9=Crx, 1.6l
So that tells you how to find where the car was made and some more info to boot

If your VIN starts with a "J" then your car was manufactured in Japan. If your VIN starts with a "2" then your car was manufactured in Canada. All CRXes were manufactured in Japan. The majority of Civic hatchbacks were manufactured in Canada, but some were manufactured in Japan.
If you are driving a USDM '88-91 Civic, then you do NOT have an "EF." EF8 is the chassis code for an '89-91 JDM/UKDM RHD CRX SiR with a B16A engine; if you don't drive one of these then you do not have an EF8. Your VIN will show plainly in the 4th and 5th characters that you have an "ED."
ED6 - Civic hatchback 1.5L, USDM/CDM/EDM LHD
ED7 - Civic hatchback 1.6L, USDM/CDM/EDM LHD
ED8 - CRX 1.5L, USDM/CDM/EDM LHD
ED9 - CRX 1.6L, USDM/CDM/EDM LHD

Im sorry im trying to figure out this "JDM" stuff.

"JDM" means "Japanese Domestic Market" - referring to items that were sold only in Japan.
Your car was originally sold in the US, making it a USDM car - even though it was manufactured in Japan.
People here at Honda-Tech take this silly "JDM" garbage way too far.

You're welcome.
Just remember not to take the "JDM" crap too seriously around here. Most ignorant people here say "EF" when they are really referring to an "ED," and it is both misleading and confusing.
If you ever have to buy parts from a "JDM" company such as Tein, J's Racing, Mugen, etc., make sure you buy parts for an "ED" Civic - not an "EF" - because there is a chance that some EF items (such as suspension, brakes, chassis braces, interior pieces, etc.) will not work on your ED since they are made for a different chassis. The majority of parts are interchangeable between the two, but many are not.

You have established that the UKDM cars are called 1.6i-VT, not SiR. You are correct on that, I was wrong.
However, you have not established what is related to the main point of this thread - is the UKDM car an EE8 or EF8? I say EF8; RHD cars were EF and LHD cars were EE/ED. "I know I'm right" doesn't cut it with me.

Proof them from a UK citizen. Thank you. I've been looking through UK eBay auctions and UK CRX clubs/owners sites, and they are cosistent with what you have said.
I apologize to crxgator and the rest of the forum for spreading misinformation. That's what I get for making hasty assumptions based on what I've read over the internet, rather than researching it more thoroughly first.
