Standard tranny?....or standard bore?.. I have both. I have good compression rings, with no apparent blowby. But my car smokes and uses oil, so I guess I am re-ringing it.

well is your car a dx or a std?
dx-d15b2
std-d15b1
the easiest way it to just look whats stamped on your block...its a square section with a code machined into it...if u open the hood its on the left side by the transmission...u might miss it at first if the engine is real grimey, but keep loojkin and u will find it

Do you have a 4-speed or 5-speed tranny.

4 speed = D15B1
5 speed = D15B2

There the same motor, they just use a differen't cam i believe, but anyways just get the 1.5 engine kit if your rebuilding it, it's gonna fit regardless.

It s a 1990 DX, 5-speed. I didnt know there was any difference between these engines. I put a cylinder head off an '88 LX... Is this OK?.. Is runs good despite the smoke. Thanks

I have around 185 in all the cylinders, they are all within about 4lbs of each other. The car doesnt smoke when you start it, but once it warms up and you rev it, it puff out the blue smoke. driveing down the road, in third gear, winding it out in the upper RPM;s....you can look back in your rear view, smoke! Lower RPM's it smokes to, just not as much.
