What do i need for rear disc brake swap for 89 crx hf?
I just went to my mechanic and he checkedmy rear brake drums because they were squeking and i seen that the brake drum pads needed to be changed and he said he needed to resurface the drum cover a little. He says the job would cost me $300 and i trust his pricing. Just wondering if doing a rear disc brake system is cheaper and how hard of a job is it. Links and pics would help alot. I have a 89 crx hf and swapped a d15b vtec. Let me know

Please use the search. The rear disc brake conversion is by far one of the most common topics on this board.

You will need the following things:
- rear hub assemblies for discs (attached trailing arms are optional)
- calipers (you can turn these in as cores for new or reman units)
- rotors (new, blank)
- pads (new)
- proportioning valve (the proper one will depend on which front brakes you are using)
- soft lines for calipers (fitting is different than for wheel cylinders)
- e-brake cables for calipers (fitting is different than for drums)
- fresh brake fluid (DOT 3 or DOT 4)
You can get the hub assemblies (with or without trailing arms), calipers, rotors, and pads from/for the following cars:
- '90-91 CRX Si
- '90-01 Integra (except Type-R)
- '92-95 Civic LX-ABS, EX-ABS, Si, Si-ABS
- '93-97 del Sol Si, VTEC
- '99-00 Civic Si
The soft lines and the e-brake cables you will need are for a '90-91 CRX Si.
The proportioning valve will depends on which front brakes you are using. Which front brakes are you using?

They're usually old rusted Civic rear disc brakes with no e-brake cables.

Your Mechanic must be on drugs.
Resurface drum is about 5-15 bucks each
shoe is about 30+ (oem)
