What direction to go? 90 Si Hatch
So i have always wanted an EF hatch. After perusing craigslist for months and driving a few, I stumbled across the unicorn. One-owner, 104k miles, Si hatch. Now my question is, what should I do with it? Obviously, I want to make it a fun weekend car (its not my daily), but also want to maintain some originality. It has a few needs, but mostly I just want to enjoy it.
So, please give me your input. Also, should I keep these 14" prime wheels? They seem a little janky to me, but i believe they were dealer add-ons.

Wow, that is a super nice example of an original ED7! I would keep all body work stock and focus on subtle modification i.e. brakes, suspension. You could pick up Si OEM alloys and get Dunlop Direzza's in 185/60r14 to keep it looking fairly stock, while still having amazing grip.

Also, as far as suspension goes, springs and shocks first or sway bars? I come from subarus where sways get more bang for the buck than springs do.

These wheels

As for the suspension, a good rear sway bar and a strut/spring combo should cost around 1000 dollars. These civics do very well with a larger rear bar and a stock front bar. This is because a larger front bar increases understeer which is less than ideal for a fwd car. For the front bar, just replace the sway bar link bushings and then you're set.

I bought it the day after it was listed. I looked at it 3 hours after it was posted, made an offer and waited to hear back. They said yes the next morning and I picked it up. $3000.

I must not be looking at CL at the right time. I look each and every day and never find something that clean. All I ever see are salvaged, with mismatched body parts, and someones crappy swap. Good find though. As has been said, I would keep it mostly stock. Not many of these around that are still looking that nice.

Yeah. The car has a few needs like a clutch adjustment/replacement, the door stop on the drivers side detached and the distibutor o ring needs to be changed. But the AC is cold and everything works! I offered $4k with everything fixed or $3k as is. I will post a pic of the interior because it is immaculate!

I don't think they offered alloys on the civic. According to the brochure here: https://honda-tech.com/honda-acura-2...-pics-2760498/ there was no option for alloy wheels on the civc.
Maybe the CRX?

IIRC that is true. 88-89 CRX Si and 90-91 CRX Si had their own unique Si trim level alloys, 7 spoke "tear drop" style and 5 spoke "swirly/blade" style respectively. Civics as far as I can remember only had those hubcaps but there were available optional alloys you could add/upgrade to.

Keep a relatively stock USDM exterior, all new suspension with upgraded brakes, and add a JRSC lol
BTW: I have some old school Enkei 82s that would fit this nicely as it did on my crx before I switched wheels just saying lol

Upgrade the wheels to something era-correct (90-91 CRX alloys if it were up to me ), maybe lower it an inch, and maintain it mechanically as is to keep it alive.
You can slam and swap POSs. However, it is your duty to simply maintain Gems and Survivors

Good looking car, keep it nice and moderate as others have mentioned. As I built my Crx, I tried to follow that same goal. Below are some of my opinions.....
- for suspension I used Tokico Blues mounted on ST springs lowered at 1.4". They ride and handle amazing
- rear ST sway bar
- many options for brake upgrades. I found a deal and bought a Wilwood set, larger that stock, about half the weight, with premium performance. The othe great place with good options is "Fast Brakes"
- wheels, so many options. My opinion, find something light, and strong!!! Forged rims are a premium choice ie. Volk, Work, SOME Enkei, some Mugen etc. Pretty tasteful to find something period correct also
- exhaust, hmm, try and find a good replacement by a well known brand for a nice build quality and sound. HKS, Tanabe, Greddy, 5Zigen, Apexi, Mugen etc
- engine/power plant....this is a touchy subject. If your original engine tranny combo works well, keep it!!!! If it's old and worn out needing to be replaced or rebuilt, there are countless options. For me, when I was young, I threw a rod in my original engine using nos. For me, I went a premium route and went b series using Hasport mounts, and other quality parts to upgrade.
In short, oem parts are very high quality and your best option in most cases. Using only premium parts for an upgrade if wanted is the way to go, if you go that way, good luck!
