want to replace my OBD 0 to OBD 1 ECU conversion harness with something better
Hey guys,
While replacing a plug on my ECU conversion harness I found that the solder had broken loose on one of my injectors, and this was the cause for my #3 injector not firing and cuasing that cylinder to misfire. I've looked at other OBD 0 to OBD 1 conversion harnesses and all of them look like they are setup the same way. The wires are soldered onto prongs on the back of the OBD0 plug and shirnkwrapped. In my case the solder was broken however the shrinkwrap was causing sporadic misfires.
I like the way the back of the OBD 1 plugs look. The wire is crimped onto a little connector and then that connector is inserted into the back of the plug and locked into place. Right now the only thing I can think of is to replace the OBD 0 plugs completely and wire the OBD 1 plugs directly to my old harness. This could cause problems in the future if I ever want to return the car to stock though. Is there anything I can do with the OBD 0 plugs that would make the connection better and more secure? are the prongs on the back of the OBD 0 plugs removeable?
anyways let me know if you guys have any ideas
TIA
