Trivia!!! Changing temp reading at high load
My 90 crx hf has started changing temp readings while Im in fifth mostly. Sometimes fourth. It started after I changed the temp sending unit and ect. I bleed the system. Fan hasn't been working so thought I would change fan sending unit but I'm never up for that. But I don't know thought it meant be cause I was running it with conventional green 50/50 in it. What do you'll think?
Also, I changed the thermostat recently
thanks

Re: Trivia!!! Changing temp reading at high load
What temperature thermostat did you get and what sending unit did you get?
I had similar issues.
Bought an oem sending unit from Honda and that fixed most of it.
The ect doesnt send anything to the gauge or control temperature, but I recommend an oem one for this.
The fan switch is right above to the left of the oil filter, there's two prongs and screws in and out similar to the ect
The oem thermostat however was too cold and my temp needle would drop at idle and raise back up to operating temp under load. So I got one at Napa autoparts. It's 180 degrees vs the oem 172. But the 180 degrees is specified as oem. There is also an alternate Honda thermostat that is also 180 degrees.
The 50/50 green is the correct coolant mix. Buy the full concentrate and dilute it with distilled water.
Bleeding is simple, top off the radiator, put heater **** on hot(blower off), cap off and let idle until fan turns on twice. Let it cool and top off. Put cap on. drive and top off at reservoir.
I found with my car it bleeds best at a level height, even though most say to jack up the front end.
For 6.00, you might want to change your radiator cap

Re: Trivia!!! Changing temp reading at high load
I had a gsr swap that heated up under load, ended up doing a new head gasket, either the gasket was bad or the head bolts were allowing the head to lift.
