Default Transmission problems?

alright, i was coming home from school today and everything was going fine.. then i make a turn and then a noise started.. i kinda sounded like when you reverse the whineing noise but it was not constant it would whine for a sec then go away whine for a sec go away and as you picked speed the whining got louder and more constant.. so when i got home i put it up on a jsck and started the car up and put her in gear and when the wheel turned it made a squeaking noise .... oh yeah it was the right side wheel..

thanks

It could be your right CV joint if it is you need to replace your axle.

Or possibly your wheel bearing could be starting to go. Check for play in your wheel.

found this on ebay

1988 crx si transmission
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33733

1989 civic dx transmission
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33733

i was going to buy the 89 dx transmission to use on a y7 block, but i figure i would save my money and go zc. hope this helps. but before i invest into the money to buy a new tranny, try to find exactly what's wrong with it before assuming. maybe that will save you some $$$.

good luck.

You may want to start with changing the transmission fluid. It may or may not solve your problem, but it is a cheap place to start. If that doesn't straighten out the problem then start searching for a new tranny. There are a couple of places in NC you could check. Japan Direct (Raleigh) and Import Auto Salvage (Marion) both have a pretty large inventory.

Guys I would like to post a warning not to listen to a thing theis guy s has to say because he has no idea what he is taking about or knows anything about cars. He just make his comments based on what other people say in their posts.
But anyways buddy go ahead and chechk out your throw out bearing if its not your axels.

JDlvl InTEGRA is right.. I wouldn't listen to any of these guys unless they showed me a way to properly diagnose the problem..

Anyways..

I don't think the problem is your tranny.. It sounds to me like the bearing or bearings, I don't know how many, are Spalling. Spalling is when small pieces of a bearing break off from the bearing itself. Spalling can cause a random high pitch noise. But I won't argue that your problem is the bearing(s) because I can't hear the sound myself. But I would have to agree with one other guys who said to check for endplay..

But that's just what I think. Good Luck.
