Where do you check the fluid in the transmission?? Also, what's the best type of fluid to put in there.

Honda MTF & a bottle of GM Syncromesh

Just use the Honda MTF, if you don't have that, you can use 10-30w to get you dealership to get some, had to do that once, a long long time ago.

you can't really check the fluid level cause it ain't got a dipstick.
edit/ manual/stick only!

I would suggest just go ahead and drain the fluids out and refill it.

btw, you have to get down under the car to do it...pain in the *** job...

make sure the car is level, and remove the fill plug on the transmission. Stick your finger in the whole, you should be able to feel fluid. If you can not you are low on fluid.

Watch it when it drains out . Not hard to do so if your not sure about the last time is was changed just do it, it NEVER hurts to put in fresh NEW tranny fluid Just think about how often your motor oil is reccomended to be changed? doesn't it make since to also change your tranny fluid more often too? , after all it is just oil which breaks down over time (I change mine about every 15-20k just to be safe considering how hard I drive)

wait a second, my car manual said to puse SAE 10-30 OIL so i just grabbed some valvoline 10-30 and threw it in there? Did i read it wrong or what??

It's okay to use the reccommended viscosity engine oil, but Honda MTF is just better. Don't ask me why it is, it just seems to keep noise down better and creates smoother shifts in my experience. Some people also swear by a combination of Honda MTF and Syncromesh.

Go to a GM dealer and ask for "Synchromesh"
