I had the exact same thing happen to me a few months back on my DOHC ZC rebuild.
I was able to insert a small diameter flathead screwdriver down the hole and use it to remove the broken piece successfully. So this trick may help save you a trip?
Basically you push down on the screwdriver handle while turning.
It takes patience, but usually you can get them out this way.
I guess it depends entirely on how many threads are still engaged in the bore
Usually the shaft will shear and leave an angle to the upper surface. The screwdriver bit is able to wedge against the side of this angle and produce rotation.
