Default 4 SPD MANUAL Pos to SI conversion how to?'s

How easy it to convert my PITA 4 speed manual over to a complete SI SOHC?

Will it be street legal? Smog Legal? Seems cheaper than the B16 swap.

Thanks

Jon

Thanks for the link but I have the 4 speed stick shift ( manual ) but want the 5 speed. I really want to see if its easy to drop in a 91 SI SOHC and tranny in it. Sorry bout the confusion. I just want the Vtec and the 5th speed.LOL

Thanks

Jon

Oh, well you won't gain that much speed. Its not worth it ( but thats my opinion )

Really looking for the easiest swap without modding or buying anything too extravaggant. I am on a lean budget. Thought that would be the ideal and cheap yet power adding idea.

have you considered a dohc ZC

not that expensive, still uses stock mounts, and you can often get them with their short geared 5 speed trannys.....

my .02

if a sohc si is what you want, then get a complete d16a6 with tranny from someone, and do the swap.

yes that will be cheaper then a b16, but no where near as fast.

91 Si Motors are non-VTEC. Just FYI.

So that leaves the B16 than?I just wanted to stay in the same generation of civics.

So I am stuck with a Non Vtec motor.

Sorry to bump an old thread. Search around on the site for info on a mini-me swap or look at getting a D15 VTEC: http://www.hmotorsonline.com/s...30019. Both of these options will give you VTEC and won't cost as much as a B16 swap. You still will have to deal with engine mounts and wiring, etc., but it will cost a lot less. Also, I just noticed you're in CA and you guys have all that crazy smog ****. Contact "thesmogman" on here, I always see him giving good advice for Ca people wanting to do swaps. Good luck.

The smog laws are the reason i am looking into the same generation. I thought going to a newer engine would be easy but I still have to fight the law. I just don't care for that. I will look for thesmogman. Thanks for the advice.
