Default Rim Width On CRX

Currently i have 14"x5.5" Rims on my CRX. but i want a wider tire footprint, i was wonder if anyone knew the widest rims that can go on a crx without rubbing the inside of the tire well.

depends on the offset and ride height... 7" is pretty common

well a 195-50-15 will have a decent stretch on a 7" wide wheel... a 205-50-15 will have pretty straight sidewalls... offset can be very confusing but here goes my best explination. its the measurement of where the wheel bolts to hub in comparison to the rest of the wheel. a high offset wheel (like a +45) will be a pretty flat wheel as in no lip, a low offset wheel (like 0 offset) will have a huge lip...

here is my setup - 15 x 7.5" (0-offset) Konig B-Bombs wraped in Nitto NT-01's (205-50-15)

The stretch with a 195/50/15 on a 15x7 rota isnt bad at all.

for a CRX:

15x6.5 is a very common rim size. itll fit a 195 fine. 205 maybe depending on drop and camber. if you dont have the fender liner, then its ok, especially if you roll the fender.

7"+ wide wheels are availalbe. just not as common. i wouldnt suggest you try to fit a 225 under an unmodified (rolled and pushed out) front and rear fender.

civic hatches allow some wider tires because the fenders are flared a bit more. 225 is acheivable with less fuss, but still stretching things.

just consider a 15x6.5 or 15x7 wheel with 195 or 205 wide tires.

i would not get a 16" wheel. its just excessive.

i have 215/35r18's on my hatch on some 18 X 7.5 konig rated r's. i have about an 8th of an inch in the rear for clearance from the lower control arm and tire. when slammed 4 inches with -1 degree in camber my rear the tires do not rub the fender well or the lip of the rear fender. in front though with that wide of a rim, lock to lock will rub if i turn to hard. typically though i find the ride rather good and handling is awesome.
