Default removing front bumper reinforcement for weight reduction in 91 hatch

I've heard about removing the front bumper reinforcement for weight reduction. If you remove the bumper reinforcement do you have to modify some brackets to hold the bumper in place? Thanks

im planning on doing this as well. from what ive heard, you cant cut them completely out because then you wont be able to mount the bumpers back on the car. so youre supposed to cut around the number mounts.

You better have race only cars, or you're gonna die in a crash! (not to mention killing any chance of salvaging your engine!). If you want the bumper to look some what normal, your best bet is to cut it and make like an L bracket out of it where it needs to support the bumper. Seriously though, race only!
