Default registering an already imported rhd crx

well its like the title says, i have the oportunity to buy a crx, that has not been registered here yet, but is in the country, i know that companys like motorex import skylines and what not, and that its a pain in the **** to import cars and get them registered, however is it harder or easier to register a car thats already here, im not trippin to much on doing the work for it but does it cost a grip to do, the car i would be purchasing is 89 with around 40 k on the whole car, and has a turbo not sure on what kind or who did the work. but there asking 7500 which if it costs alot more to register at well is not going to be worth it to me.

cliffs: is it easier/ cheaper if the jdm car is already in the country?

sorry if i didnt search thouroughly enuff.

Can you ask a little more clearly? That first paragraph was one huge run-on sentence.

It's going to be hard to register a RHD car in the U.S. none the less being turbo...

sorry i tend to do that,

anyways, basically heres the deal a dealership is selling a rhd crx that was imported from japan. However this car has never been titled, or registered here. so is it going to be a huge pain to register it and who would i contact to do this the state ref?

even though you still cut the paragraph down it is still hard to understand what u are asking. I think a couple pages back (go through each page), there is a thread about importing a rhd crx. From what I read, they only allow skylines to be imported. It's going to cost more than the crx is actually worth. You could probably buy 3 modded crx's with swaps in them for the price of a rhd jdm crx. Search button on the top right of the page is ur friend.

Just take a trip down to your local dmv and chp and ask them, they should have all the answers for you.

In order to ship a car to the usa(full car) you must go threw a company to make sure it is DOT legal they must be certified. They add bumper's supports, emissions, door bars, etc. to make the car legal and convert the VIN so you can take it to your local DMV to register it. LEGALLY

I'll just say this..... some counties are much much easier to get everything done in. This applies for So Cal vs. Nor Cal, unless you have a hookup (which really can't help too much these days as rules changed in the past year)

*/ my advice

yeesh this certainly does seem like alot of work im reading both the NHTSA sight which in this case doesent seem to apply as the car is already imported and only needs registration, and the site they guided me to http://www.aamva.org thanks again for all the info im going to go to the dmv sometime soon and see what they say as well.
