Recommened repair manual questions
Hey guys,
I have a 90 civic si with a Jdm b18c motor and I believe a b16 with cable trans. The car is controlled with a p28 with hondata. I am looking for the suggested repair manuals to pull the motor out and also recondition the motor. What would you recommend for suggested books? Haynes, Chilton? From what years and what cars?
Thanks.

Re: Recommened repair manual questions
Pulling the motor is really straight forward in these cars and I suggest reading online write ups. I'm sure a repair manual for your car year would be my suggestion. The differences in these motors in minimal compared to chassis to chassis. I would not suggest getting anything other than a manual for the 4th gen for pulling the motor. For rebuilding, look to cars that came with the B18C motor stock, such as the GSR. It should be similar enough to be helpful.
Again, I do suggest just googling and reading/printing off write ups over a repair manual. I swapped my motor, removed the head, and did a handful of other things quite similar to what you plan on doing based on nothing but online research.

Re: Recommened repair manual questions
This wasn't a bad read, but it doesn't talk about removal of the swap. Just the install. Additionally, my version didn't talk about K series that much as it was newer at the time it was written, but it may have been updated.
A regular repair manual is only going to talk about the D series. Swaps change a lot of components, which the manual won't talk about.
I stopped using Haynes manuals after my first car. They are pretty useless compared to the internets.

theres only 1 good repair manual, the Honda factory service manual, aka Helms.
you can search for available downloads it pretty easily. this site just doesnt allow posting links to them here.
haynes and chiltons are garbage. worthless.

I made it through my first rebuild with the Honda FSM.
Haynes and Chilton's are fantastic for starting coal for BBQ's and campfires.
The internet is really good for 'how-do-I" so you can see how measurements and tools get put to use.
Having honest torque specs and such direct from Honda is the way to go.
