Default random beep sound when i hit bumps, either seatbelt? or door?

i know theres been a lot of posts about the messed up beeping sound coming from seatbelt warning or door open thing, and i have read a lot of them, but still have'nt figured it out.

my car is a 1991 CRX Si with 230,000 miles, and i get a random beep sound and i notice it seems to only beep when i hit bumps or am driving over rough parts of the road ?

i already unplugged the wire harness from the buzzer under the rearview mirror area and it did'nt fix it, cause i still have the random beeping ? ??

just need help pinpointing what the problem is and how to disable it ???,

if i unplugged the buzzer under rear-view mirror for the seatbelt buzzer and i still get the beeping, would that mean that its probably the door-open buzzer ? or not?

i looked at the door latch (shaped like an "L"), and its not loose, and it works and the dome light comes on and off when you move the latch back and forth.

what else can i do to find out where this beeping is coming from ?????

any help would be much appreciated, thanks

Have you checked the door sensor wires?

do you mean the wires that attach to the "door latch", thing thats shaped like the letter "L" ?

or are you talking about some other thing that i might not know about ?

another post said to take phiillips head screw out of door latch and clean the connection, but i tried to and my screw on drivers latch is stripped where you can't take it out at all.

can i pinpoint it more if i somehow listen and try to hear where the beep is coming from ? or where it might be located ? so i can determine which beeper is the culprit ?

i mean i can have a friend drive around residential neighborhood while i try to listen and locate where the beep is coming from ? but i don't think it could come from under the rear view mirror cause i have disconnected the wire going to that buzzer.

any more guidance to help me fix this would be cool, thanks

These often get dirty or break and **** up the system, check your seat belt wires under your seat make sure there connected correctly.

thanks for the reply,

i started to check the wires connecting to the seatbelts the other day, and i could'nt really see under there but could just feel it, but then i stopped because it seems that if i unplugged the buzzer under the rear view mirror (which is for the seatbelt), then it probably would'nt be related to the seatbelt stuff or wires etc ... ? (correct me if i'm wrong though),

but if your saying that the seatbelt wires being disconnected can still somehow make it beep? , then i guess i'll check them for sure this time.

one thing to mention is a body shop replaced my drivers door with a used one from a different CRX, it was good condition one and from si model around 90/91 year, but would there be anything related that could be not connecting from the used door ??

i went out and looked at my car again, to try some more things so i can fix that random beeping sound,

i tried to locate the source of the beeping, listening with my ear around area under steering wheel but i could'nt find it.

but i am pretty sure i found what the problem is,

cause while the door-ajar beep was going on, i was fiddling with the "L" bracket door latch thing on the drivers door, i was wiggling it around and i heard the beep do that "cut-off", "distorted", "random" sort of thing, which is the problem that i have been hearing when driving around when hitting bumps and stuff, i did it on the passenger side and it does'nt do it cause its tighter and has better connection,

so when i hit bumps it probably jiggles that "L" bracket door latch thing, it does'nt make my dome light flash while doing that though, so thats fine, its just touchy and is triggering the beep sound even when the door is closed and driving,

i'm just going to try to jam a piece of metal or plastic into the slot that the "L" latch thing slides along, so you force it where it can't slide back enough to trigger the beep sound, cause you can still use the dome light just manually with the on switch, that would probably be all i need to do, that would disable the sound without doing complex stuff like cutting wires or whatever . . .

Yeah I to jam a wire under it to keep it from making the "door ajar" beeping.....someone hit me in my passenger side and the replacement door I got closes and latches but it doesn't fit too well.....I need to do some body work, but anyways, yeah I've had to do the same thing.

yeah, i had to have door replaced also, what happened was, i was parked along a curb waiting for my friend to come out of an apartment building just minding my own business and i see this toyota 4-runner stop and looked like they were about to parallel park or something and they put it in reverse and suddenly they just ran in reverse fast, right in my direction, bashing into my drivers door, which i was sitting next to, shattering the window and wrecked the whole door metal, i could'nt believe it cause i just did'nt expect it, but i was'nt hurt luckily.

i got out and got their attention before they took off, it was two girls and the driver was drunk and they were scared and begging for me not to call the cops cause it was their dad's vehicle, so i was nice and did'nt call the cops, but i did make sure i got all their insurance info and i took a pic of their bumper where it hit mine, the passenger was'nt drunk so she drove on the way home.

i got $900 from the claim, it was in body shop 2 months, he took a while to find a decent door, and finally found one from a junkyard in houston and fixed the car.

on a different subject, 90civic-ZC, do you have a dohc ZC motor ? cause i have one too, if so, hows it holding up for you ? mine i got put in around 2004 and luckily have'nt had one problem with it, but sucks not knowing how many miles are on it, cause sometime soon i need to just take a guess and just get the timing belt replaced.

might as well replace the timing belt while your in there, and an easy way to disconnect the door trigger is to pop off the rear interior panel and there is a hole big enough to stick your hand in and unhook the wires.

Unhooking the wire will do that without it beeping? I have been half tempted to do that myself. My ZC is holding up great mechanically, I just have a slight problem and think it is a sensor.......trying to figure it out. I have a post of my problem but no one has said anything on it recently. Might start a new thread for it. But I love my ZC, I suggest just replacing the timing belt and water pump, max forty bucks is better than hundreds in head work ya' know
?

ok, i ended up putting a screw into the hole under each door trigger, while holding the trigger closed (pulling it towards the car), and they fit in good and stayed without moving,

so i got it so the door triggers where held in one place, cause the screw i put does'nt allow the trigger to be able to spring back like it usually would when you open the door, so i thought that should fix it.

i had the doors open and it was'nt beeping at all anymore, and i shut both doors to see and the trigggers and screws i put still stayed put in place, and still no beeping.

but then i got in the car and started driving back to my place, and right when i turned onto the road, and went around the rough patches of road or bumps, then i still heard a few beeps here and there !!!!, so that did'nt fix it like i thought it would.

i was going to try to disconnect the wire from the back of the triggers, and see if that stopped the beeping, but i read posts where people did that but the beeping noise was still there after doing that ??, which seems weird cause the wire is'nt even attached, and that usually is what sends an electric signal to the buzzer/beeper that activates the sound ?

the most help someone could give me would just be to simply tell me WHERE THE SOUND SOURCE IS LOCATED THAT MAKES THE BEEP WHEN THE DOOR IS OPEN ??, cause after all these posts i have read nobody answered that part, cause if i just knew where that little speaker that makes that beep sound for the door, then i could at least try to either cut the wire to it, rip the buzzer out entirely or plug the hole in the buzzer with silicone or something to muffle the sound or something?

while listening with my ear under the steering column and fusebox, it seems like i hear it coming from the area in the center below the steering column ? or towards the center console where theres a black box on side of it, but i just could'nt find where it comes from, and the HELMS manual did'nt say a thing about where its at either..

so if you read this far, and know something about this, then i would totally appreciate if you let me know,

thanks

The switch on the door jamb (l shape) is an open circuit when the door is shut. So you can disconnect the wire from the back on the switch , and tape it off, as long as that wire doesnt touch ground the car will ALWAYS think the door is shut. Which is what we want, because its the open door condition that causes these beeps. So if there are no other switches that ground out that beeper then the problem MUST me in whatever triggers voltage to the beeper. I dont know if the beep on and beep off is controlled by perhaps a 555 timer chip or something on the "integrated control unit".. Ive been looking for wiring diagrams and cant find any info about this circuit ..
