Rain causing my car to run rough??
I have a 88 CRX with an H22A4 swap. Two days after hurricane Irene went through MD i had to get gas. I filled my car up with 93 from the same Sunoco station ive been going to for months. A few days after this my car started breaking up and just died and wouldn't start back up. I came back the next day and put a new coil and plugs in the car and after cranking and trying to get it started, it finally fired up. Still running like it had a random misfire but it was enough to get the car home. the car would start up with no problem now. I drove to work and as i was driving it seemed to clear up. the drive home the car died again and after cranking for about 10-15 mins it would start and drive. Every time the car died i would b driving along and then all of a sudden it just had no power. i could push the pedal down and it didn't do anything. i could downshift and keep the running until i hit 1st and couldn't downshift anymore and then it would just stall. I got the car to work the next day with no problem i changed the fuel filter which was dirty and i also drained the fuel from it which had water in it. After seeing this i decided to drain the tank, from the drain plug and then fill the car up with 93 from the shell station by my work. When i got back home from work that night i went and got a bottle of HEET to put in the tank just to eliminate any moisture that might still b in there. After about 30 miles of driving the car was running better then ever. I drove Sunday down to Baltimore to watch the Grand Prix and back and had no issues. I had about 140 miles at this point with no problems. Then Sunday night it started to rain and i left my buddies. Not even a 1/4 mile down the road the car started acting up and shaking and running like complete ****. It sat all day yesterday and then when i went to leave for work this morning it took about 15 mins to get it started and then died a 1/4 mile down the road got the car started after about 5 min and kept on driving. The car died about 6 times on this trip. The compression is 190 throughout all 4 cylinders. I don't see where water could be getting into the gas tank. Everything seems to be dry. I'm at a loss here and i don't want to through parts at it. Any suggestions, ideas or help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

ok ill double check it wasnt loose when i put the coil in when it all happened the first time. im also going to see if moisture is getting in the cap somehow

I checked the rotor and cap. The rotor screw is tight and there is no moisture in the dizzy or cap. I even went to the extent of spraying water, with a water bottle and didn't get anything to act up. no sparking popping or anything like that.

I just ran up to Napa and got a new Rotor and so far the car seems to be running fine but i haven't driven it enough for my own satisfaction to guarantee its truly fixed ill know more later today when i have to go out.

yeah i thought about that and my buddy gave me a known good one. The car still acted the same and every time i go to crank it when it doesn't crank i can hold the relay and feel the fuel pump side kick on and the ignition signal side as well

You said in your post you put a ignition coil... so you also put a new ignition control module in? Did your car get flooded? Are you running a cold air intake?

Re: Rain causing my car to run rough??
No flooding and I have a short ram intake only thing that I could think of was that I got water in my gas and thats what caused the coil to stress ans go bad and the igniter I got from a friend. No way I'm buying a new one they are more expensive then buying a new dizzy. Which I got a few months ago when I got the car

Costs more than a distributor? Noooo...
It's $110 NEW from Autozone.
Distributor is $236.
Too bad you don't have a D-series... only $50.

Then buy two dizzy's and sell them for $180 each.
You will be saving people $56 so they will buy them.
You will make $70 profit off each sale.
Your new ignitor will be free and $30 in your pocket.
