Default Radiator Fan Switch Q?

After I did my swap I had a bunch of electrical problems and I think my fan got messed up because my car overheated the other day and It didn't come on. I looked into hard wiring it from a switch but I am wee bit confused on how to do so. There are two wires coming of the fan unit.. What are they? and How do I go about wiring to a switch. I searched and came up with nothing. Pics are always great.

if you connect the wires that go to the fan switch together the fan should turn on (as long as the car is running). if it doesnt turn on you have other problems, I just rewired mine with a new relay and hooked it up to the switch and a toggle if i want to turn it on manually as well. the switch just grounds the circuit if you plan on rewireing it just run the ground from the relay to the switch

You have it hooked up to work as normal and to work when the toggle switch is turned to ON? Any more info? Mine is doing the same thing, fan is not turning on even when the motor is getting pretty damn hot.

The 2 wires going to the fan are just a power and a ground

I added a slim fan and new I wanted to have it on most of the time. I simply ran its 2 wires to a toggle switch with a tap into the cars open fuse constant 12V

Just dont forget to turn it off

So your's is on all the time or always off, no longer signaled from the thermo switch, correct?

as they said, 2 wires are power and ground. you can wire it to a switched ground under the dash, that way it turns off when your car turns off. wiring to a constant source does have its merits though, like letting your car cool off without your key in.

i am trying to wrap my mind around a method to still use the thermo-switch, but to have a manual override. if anyone has any suggestions.. let me know. i think the easiest way is with a 1 "off", 2 "on" switch. but i would like to do it with as few wires as possible. i guess it could be done with a 2 position switch where one is spliced into the thermo-switch power, and the other is switched power for the overide. i dont know.

You may not be getting a signal from your thermostat to turn your fan on. all u have to do is take the 2 wires going to the fan and touch them to the termianls on your battery (doesn't matter which way). Depending on the way you position the wires to the battery, the fan should move forwards or backwards. Just make sure ur fan blows inwards toward your motor and remember the way you positioned them. Run the positive side of the fan to the thick black w/ yellow stripe wire off of your ignition harness in ur steering column and ground the other wire going to your fan. What you'll have now is a fan that only turns on while ur ignition is on. No need for a switch or relays, but it would also be good to add an inline fuse of about 15-20 amps. Hope this helps.

if u wire yours up like how I posted, you could turn your car to the on position without starting the engine and let your motor cool down faster. Only shitty part is it could potentially kill ur battery pretty fast. BTW, make sure to use at least 16 AWG wire for this or else the wire will get too hot.

if you wire it to accesory, that means the fan will be on even though ur only listening to music. If u wire it to igntion, u could listen to music w/o the fan whirring in the background. just my 2 cents.

Just wire it to a ******* switch, it can ba on whenever youw ant it to be, car off car on.

Ive gto all my gauges going to a single switch with a pwoer line coming straight off the battery.

Sometimes you may want the fan on when the car isnt, say when your on the side of the road, keep **** cool or cool it down

Dont do it any other way

Simple, I did this to mine. There are 2 wires that go into the thermoswitch that mounts into the cylinder head/thermostat area. Splice one wire for each of these wires running into the thermoswitch. Then run the 2 spliced wires into a simple one-way switch. This way when the switch is in the "off" position the stock electrical circuit will work, however, when you flip the switch to the "on" position it will overide the stock circuit and keep the fan on at all times, except when you turn the car off. You basically stated it yourself, just thought I'd clarify.

And if your relay is dead, hook up a regular bosch 12V relay. Just break apart the connector and plug them in just like the little diagram on the old one showed. blk/yel and yel/grn to the coil side (85 + 86), and black and blue wires to the contacts (87 + 30).

Well there are 2 wires coming out of the thermostat switch. one feed ground to it and the other one goes to the ground of radiator fan relay, at specific temperature the switch pass the earth, there is a relay which turns on when the earth is provided by the thermostat switch,

If any of you just started to get this problem, then check for the radiator fan relay, if it’s ok then it’s your thermostat switch, get it replaced,

For those who have done the wiring them self,

2 wires from radiator fan are (+ & -), the fan will work if you connect them any way, but it will result in opposite flow of air, just check it your self that which combination of wires connected to the battery make the flow proper, Putting a paper in front of the radiator while the fan is running is the easy way to find out the direction of the air, the paper should stick to the radiator,

give +ve direct from the battery and a ground from thermo switch to check, if at half temp, fan start to work then your thermo switch is ok, if not its faulty, get it replaced,
Note there are 2 wires out of the thermo switch one should have to be grounded, before performing this test, any one dose not matter,

I can make a diagram to show you guys how to connect the fan and the switch, If you want,

As far as putting a switch is concerned it’s a nice idea, with out altering any wiring it can be done with 2 wires and a switch,
Or.

Give power to the fan from the Acc switch which require splicing +ve wire of the fan in the Acc wire in the ignition,

What I say, go for the automatic fan which comes from factory, it’s a performance gain,

If you connect the fan to Acc or an switch, fan will put load on alternator = engine Load,
= extra fuel,

Your fuel average of the car will drop At least 3 to 4 mpg,
And also shorten the life of fan and Battery,

Now you are on your own to decide which the best is.
For the short time ill say its ok,

haha yeah the diagram would work better. I tried looking up the fan switch in the book but the little 2 inch picture of the location doesn't quite help. I'm thinking about trying the other ideas
