question about dpfi to mpfi?
ok i have a 91 civic std. d15b1 sohc dpfi motor with a 4 speed trans (m). i bought a d15b7 sohc mpfi out of a 93 del sol, and i have questions. ok so this is what i have
d15b1 dpfi 4 speed cable trans in the car now
d15b7 mpfi 5 speed hydro trans
91 std harness on the car
91 std harness (extra)
92-95 sohc vtec harness (extra)
92-95 sohc non vtec harness (extra)
the injectors are from the 93 motor also came with a dizzy no ecu though.
im not going vtec just going to mpfi so what ecu do i need?
what dizzy should i use the one on the 91 motor or the one from the 93 motor?

Re: question about dpfi to mpfi?
ok let me clear some things up so i dont get more post's like the one above.
it says i am a new member but i am not i forgot my login info so i had to change my name so that is why it says new menber but i have been around this site for awile.
i do know how to use the search fuction and i have been searching for info on the dpfi-mpfi swap and i have a good understanding of the wireing (a3-a7 b10-b12 c1-c2) ok guys i got all of that.
but my guestions are more about what componets i need. as i said before i have a 91 civic std. i have a complete motor and trans and harness from a 93del sol d15b7 that i want to put in the car.
the 93 d15b7 is a obd1 motor and my car is obd0.
so my questions are as followed.
i want to go to obd1 but non vtec ok im not running vtec.
so to do the mpfi swap useing the 93 i/m, 93 injectors, and a 93 dizzy what ecu should i be running?
and also i have found info about the mpfi swap and one guy was saying that you need to swap 2 wires on the tps, since i want to go to obd1 and i will be useing a tps from the 93 motor do i still need to swap the 2 wires?
and i think my last question for now atleast is. since i want obd1 is it still better to use my stock std harness and add the wires that i need or should i use the harness from the 93 motor?

DO IT ON ALL FOURS
Re: question about dpfi to mpfi?
1.) Run a P06 ECU (OBD-1).
2.) If you look the DPFI throttle body butterfly turns the opposite way than the MPFI does. So if you go MPFI, you HAVE to switch the wires around otherwise your ECU will think you are WOT when the butterfly is closed.
3.) Unless you want to take out your whole cabin harness too, you should stick with your stock harness and add wires/plugs as needed.
All these answers could have easily been found incthe FAQs though.

Re: question about dpfi to mpfi?
ok so that anwsers some of my questions thank you again i do search all the time but reading through pages and pages of post's is not the most ideal thing when all the post i have found always talk about the wireing not the componets.
ok so i will get a p06
now what dizzy do i need the one from the 93 motor? and then i have to swap the plugs right? cause the plus for the 91 dizzy are diff from the plugs on the 93 dizzy.

Re: question about dpfi to mpfi?
1.) Relook at your 2nd post; that is what you need. Run all sensors, injectors, and the distributor from your OBD-1 motor. OBD-1 and OBD-0 distributors have different reluctor rings (number of teeth). So if you use a different OBD distributor with the unmatching ECU, it obviously will go crazy.
2.) To make it easy, cut the old plug off of the OBD-0 distributor (closer to the dizzy) and cut the plug off of the OBD-1 dizzy (closer to the plug). Then rewire. Either that or a better way (takes a touch longer) is to de-pin everything and swap to the OBD-1 over. I don't know what plugs you do or don't have but it would be even cleaner if you made a OBD-1 to OBD-0 distributor jumper harness (this is what I always do).

Re: question about dpfi to mpfi?
ok thanks i get what you are saying. another question, the 91 comes with a cable speed o to tell you how fast you are going but the trans on the 93 uses a vss, when i do the swap how do i hook up the speed o to tell me how fast i am going??? b/c the 91 harness does not have a hook up for a vss.

Re: question about dpfi to mpfi?
sorry it was late lastnight and i didnt fell like searching so thats why that post is there about the vss.
so in work this morning i did some looking and found there are 2 options right?
1. get a cluster with a vss and convert my cluster plugs over to the new cluster?
2. get a cable-vss? what is a (cable-vss)? i mean i understand what a cable speedo is and what a vss is so im guessing that a (cable-vss) is the two combind. off of what year and models can i get this off of. and i also read that some ppl dont use them cause they break and then vtec dosnt work, im not running vtec so im not worried about that.
