Never tried a build thread so bare with me

Ever since I got into Hondas I wanted a sweet CRX (my first car). I saw a Best Motoring video and was sold on loving NA high revving motors. Watching the Battle at 10,000 RPMs video made me want to build a dedicated track car for years but I also tried other cars like miatas, corvette, rx7, corollas, etc. My last car being the corvette I realized it just wasn't for me. So I set out to find a mint condition white 2nd gen CRX HF. The goal is to get every ounce of weight possible out of this car and add some power along the way. I want to go K series but I really like the early 2000's style Honda tuning so I'm trying to keep it that way. For now it will be a B20 vtec set up with an integra type r transmission.

it hasn't got much further other than we weighed it before hand to see our starting weight. 1970lbs hoping to hit 1800 or less (probably won't happen)

Got a ton of parts already and waiting on more. Motor will be a stock b20 block with a GSR head for now. Waiting on the golden eagle b20vtec kit to put it together and still need a clutch and flywheel before the transmission goes on. Also got my all time favorite wheels!



Should be a lot more coming my expected completion date is by the first track day or autocross so end of march or first week in april. Going to be redoing EVERYTHING in the suspension still unsure if the front brakes will be a BBK or a combo of OEM parts if I can find the stuff I want. More to come...

I like the B20VTEC. Definitely a fun NA motor. Try getting some 12.5:1 pistons in there and do some head work. A Today rep header, LSD, and some fine tuning. You could see really decent HP numbers (somewhere around K/H series) and a really quick car.

The body looks to be in pretty good condition other than the tiny rust spot on the left back fender. Interior also looks good. Great find and good luck with the project

Also, are those real TE37s? (No harm meant btw)

Yea that one rust spot was the only bummer but it'll be addressed soon enough. They are real TE37's. One of the lightest 15x7 wheels I could find, and they've been a favorite wheel since I was little.

Nothing really new done to it yet, still just collecting parts however I got my ARP head studs, golden eagle lsvtec kit in and a few final engine parts ordered

Put on my wheels for the fun of it (4x4 status) and picked up an engine hoist. Was trying to find one locally for cheap with no luck. Bought this 2 ton beast with a 25% harbor freight coupon. Could lift two crxs!

Some random photos I have boxes showing up daily ughhh. I found the key to my brakes though, NSX dual piston calipers!!! Talk about overkill I'm always hard on brakes so it seemed well worth it. Mixed with some 11" EBC sport zinc rotors for a mini cooper (just heard about these from my brother and motoIQ tonight) I should be all set! Rear DA disk brakes and an adjustable proportioning valve with a 15/16" or 1" BMC will round off my brakes. Suspension will be all redone soon waiting on parts

So small change of plans, got the motor together and then found a 98 ITR motor for sale. Decided to put that in for now. Also picked up gsr disk brakes for the front and rear really all I needed were the hubs since HF ones are tiny. Sending them off to get powder coated once I get all the old bushings out. Things should start moving pretty quick!

Got a little done this weekend work has been keeping me too busy with opening a new location

small update motor is out!










Picking up a 98 ITR motor tomorrow, decided I'd just go with a stock type r motor with my type r transmission so I can build the b20 sooner. Just waiting on my Hasport mounts and it'll be going in, already got my Hasport shift linkage and cable to hydro conversion kit.

Are you going to clean the bay prior to the engine going in?

ITR in a HF is quite the potent combo.

LONG OVERDUE UPDATE!

Been busy moving my business and expanding to a new place so I had some free time this weekend.

Finally got to handling the brakes. Front HF hubs are too small for B series axles so why not do it with style. Got some integra brakes for the front and rear and figured I wanted something a little more than the OEM integra fronts.

So what we started with... booo 9.6" I think HF is tiny. Not sure if these are LS integra or GSR who knows. I think they're only 10.8 or something around that? I got some EBC 11.6" rotors for a mini cooper that are already 4x100 and with some trimming to the dust shield they went right on. size comparison.

Rears still need rotors and pads so no after shots but here is the fronts going on. New spindles first then making the NSX/ Mini Cooper parts work.





All through this process we had the most curious dog ever helping. She thinks she is useful

Had the front end off to remove some parts and try on over fenders but that will come later when I am trying to fit a 15x9 up front with no dumb stance camber trendy BS



NSX calipers will be redone so they don't look so ugly. All a test fit today



My ITR swap is all ready to go in as well... soon...

I guess I had a few other photos too. Cleaned the engine bay because it was horribly nasty after almost 250k. Will be removing the sub frame and all the suspension for power coating and new bushings so ignore it's dirtiness.



If you're working on a project these wheel dollies are a MUST. Make moving the car around so nice I love them.



And I got tired of trying to pick up parts in the Honda Fit so I got myself a new F150!

Also can anyone recommend a good front camber kit? Looking for the entire arm all I see in junk2 and I would like to avoid them. After owning some pro series coilovers back in the day I was less than impressed.

Probably between the 26th and 31st as I decided to close for those days. After family time and holiday stuff I imagine I'll put the motor in. Trying to find someone who can burn a chip for my p28 but I have all the wiring and such knocked out (I think). I am horrible at wiring but have done some in the past for other B swaps so I'm thinking it will go smoothly. Pray for no engine bay fires and a running motor haha

You can get base maps from most tuners for a small fee.

Nice build man.
Look into the pci front upper control arms. Great company and great product. Really like the nsx calipers. Ive had luck with phearable base maps.

I still haven't bought any :/ With the holidays it took the back seat but I'll have an update here shortly. About to order a bunch of interior stuff trying to decide on seats still. Some used SPG's or? Friend suggested Bimarco (SP?) they are a FIA certified seat and they're pretty cheap at $400ish. Haven't really looked into them yet. Maybe status? Been away from cars too long

I ended up with a EVO8 recaro for mine, recaro rails and planted seat bracket which has provisions for different rails. Unfortunately my seat isn't certified but will work for my purposes. I'm with you on the holidays though. Finally getting back to the projects.
