Re: Official B-Series Transmission and Clutch Guide
Hello
I have a 2000 Honda Civic SI (B16A2) when the engine is cold the gear come soft but work well when the engine is taking temperature become hard and change kit clutch master and slave transmission oil change and still remains the same and no I am that I only need to open the transmission to see that damage may have (pardon my English'm using the google translator)
I opened the transmission and have found a worn look each other in good condition, I think it may be something within the same gear as well as shows the previous gear.
sending some photos of how the gears are
Thank you

Re: Official B-Series Transmission and Clutch Guide
Does anyone know if it's true that the synchros for 3rd, 4th and 5th in the JDM (1990 Integra XSi B16a) S1 gearbox are all identical? I read a post elsewhere that they were and therefore when you have crunches changing into 3rd at high RPM you can swap 3rd and 5th gear synchros to fix it on a budget without buying new synchros (cos who cares about 5th gear on the track!?).
Also, if the gearbox has been thrashed (budget racecar) while grinding 3rd gear, will the gear itself be damaged, or is it likely to just be the synchro?
Cheers and sorry to resurrect an old thread, but though this info would be useful for others like myself still finding this thread (if anyone can answer definitively that is).
Cheers

The 3/4/5 synchros on the "S1" are the same but a synchro alone will not fix the grind. You will probably also need a new slider sleeve and spring. If the engagement teeth on the gear are badly worn you should get another trans as these gears are obsolete and no longer available.

Re: Official B-Series Transmission and Clutch Guide
Hi guys,
My final drive is damaged. But I don't know what final drive I actually have and I don't seem to be able to find out. Can somebody please help me? I googled and read a lot but I have no clue...
It was fitted on a B16 cable trans with Mfactory LSD and I don't know any other specs...

Took a look at the pics and if you have a 66 tooth ring gear it is a 4.40 ratio FD from an S1 or J1 cable B16. I will PM a price to you for a good used FD set.

Re: Official B-Series Transmission and Clutch Guide
OK, another question... I bought a 2nd hand J1 to replace my worn S1 box, but after getting it I found a crack in the casing that the previous owner had siliconed up. I was thinking of swapping my good S1 casing onto the J1 box.
Will the J1 internals fit into the S1 casing? This is a 1990 Integra DA (cable).
Thanks in advance (and Merry Christmas!)

I have an a1 cable transmission with a helical obx 9000 lsd installed. I have little knowledge on transmissions but after researching a while I've discovered that no clutch puck is utilized in this system. I've tried to locate any info on how to properly adjust the cable for the lsd. I had a cable clutch in a previous honda and YouTube had an instructional video on how and why to adjust the cable properly. Cannot seem to locate anything similar for the cable as it relates to the helical lsd. Can anyone give me some pointers???

Re: Official B-Series Transmission and Clutch Guide
Can someone post some pictures of the countershafts of these cable trans?
I'm looking to see which had countershafts that had the same spline size for the 3rd and 4th gears. Most of the 94+ B trans had different spline sizes for 3rd, 4th, 5th. But I swear the older B trans wasn't the same.

Re: Official B-Series Transmission and Clutch Guide
Don't know trans codes, but there are 2 different b series cable trans cases. A big case and a small case.
The S80 internals will fit in the big case with just a tiny bit of grinding to clearance in one spot.

Re: Official B-Series Transmission and Clutch Guide
Maybe you guys can help me, so it's a y1 trans without lsd. I need a clutch kit but for what year do i order, cause this has me confused,
Clutch Selection
88-91 JDM Cable Transmissions (S1/J1/Y1) use 90-91 Integra Clutch. The input Shaft has 24 teeth.
Newer Cable/Hydro Transmissions will use 92-93 Integra Clutch

Re: Official B-Series Transmission and Clutch Guide
Recently rebuilt my Y21. I replaced all the seals, synchros, and bearings. The gears seem to turn just fine on the bench and seem to seal up just fine. When I put it back in the car I seem to be having 2 issues:
1. I hear what sounds like a loud rubbing sound on the passenger side (the piece of the case that lifts off). I pulled it back apart and the diff may have rubbed against that side of the case a bit. It didn't seem noticeable when on the bench. That is my guesstimate of where the sound was and the side seems a bit roughed up on the inside. I did replace both bearings on either side of the diff. When I first set the diff in it was rubbing against the side of the case where you set the shafts in. The tolerance seems very tight on either side of the diff. Is there a number I should be looking for or have others experienced this also?
2. I have the cable to hydro trans set up in the car. I have the car on the lift and the wheels seem to turn when even in neutral. Could something be sticking/related to the noise? I forgot to step on the brakes because of the loud rubbing noise.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
