obd1 converted; Code 14 mystery, Help!
Okay, so this would be my third Ed6 that I've converted to OBD1.
My first was a '89 dx using a OBD1 pr4 for my B18A1. No issues at all.
Second was my '90 dx using a chipped P28 for my CTR that was stolen a while back. No issues once again..
Now, I'm on my third Ed6. This time it's a '88 STD. I got my parts back from the theif after 4 months of hard work from the cops. So anyway, when I got my stuff back, CTR was alright, except for scratches on the valve cover. 92' GSR tranny was OK except 3rd gear grind. My chipped P28 ecu on the other hand was fried, well the IACV/EACV resistor was fried. So I didn't waste anytime and got a hold of an automatic P28, got it chipped/socketed @ RedZone. -Thanks guys!
I finished my swap maybe a month ago, it wouldn't fire up due to the engine harness ( original DPFI harness ) had no continuity to most of the sensors; Dizzy, TW, ECT, IACV/EACV.
After wiring everything to the ECU, it fired up but I was getting a Code 14. I've probably spent a good two weeks driving with the Code 14 on. During those two weeks + today, I've replaced the IACV with three known good ones. Pulled off the intake manifold to replace the gasket. Replaced the Throttle body gasket ( AP1 throttle body~no FITV ) and used silicone to seal all the IACVs.
So today, I'm giving up. Please HELP!
-evan, thank you
~-Cliffs;
-'88 STD
-CTR swap
-converted to OBD1 using Dr.Latinos pinouts located in the FAQs section
-Replaced Fried p28 ECU with new chipped P28 (old one had fried EACV resistor)
-Code 14 Remains on
-Replaced it with three known good IACVs ( cleaned them with brake cleaner )
-Replaced Intake Manifold Gasket + Throttle body gasket
-AP1 Throttle body NO FITV ( but was running fine in my old '90..)
-Hardwired EACV, TW, ECT & Dizzy to the ECU due to no Continuity.
][][][ OH yeah, I also cleaned the throttle body and intake manifold with Brake cleaner when it was off.
CODE 14 SUCKS!!!
-bad mpg
-at partial throttle, the revs bounce (neutral or when driving)

Brush the dust off of this thread...
Did you ever fix it?
I have a 90 CX hatch, B18a1 with a 90 Integra full chassis wiring harness and engine harness swap, same problem throwing code 14 immediately when the car fires up, when it warms up the idle is fine sometimes but at part throttle its up and down between 1000-1500 rpm.
And yeah, code 14 sucks!!! At part throttle it violently bucks the car around... a truly awful experience.
I cleaned the FITV a while back and I've tried 2 different IACVs, leaving them in a parts washer overnight pumping cleaner through them, and it still throws the code every time. Very frustrating!
