Default need help with MSD ignition installation!!!!!

i just bought an MSD external coil blaster 3 and a MSD distributor cap. took out the internal coil and connected the wires to the external coil. after that i installed the new cap and hooked everything up. tried to start and it wouldnt fire. found out that i forgot to hook up one of the positive wires that went to the coil so i connected it. tried to start and the same thing except for now there is like a grinding noise. the same as if you tried to start the car while its already running. what did i do wrong?
thanks a lot for your help
-Josh
