My son just bought a 91 Crx Si project, questions?

Go with stocks. Cops will love pulling you over with anything else. I have 2 sets of hid's sitting around that I will not install into any of my Hondas. Original is getting more and more rare everyday

I bought a beater CRX that had those Halos on them. They did not work at all in the dark. Definitely a safety risk, if the quality isn't there and they don't perform as well as stock. I was so happy when I found a oem pair at the junk yard and put the oem ones back on.

Looks like you'll have your work cut out for you finding some of those trim pieces. Repaint the valve cover & clean up that engine bay.
I agree with "Dad" if your going to go body kit, do the wings west one. Otherwise, swap that rear bumper out for stock, doesn't look right without the rest of the kit.

Here's a list of things that are usually found in every man's garage which can help you do the trick:
-Simple Green (for general engine bay soaking and dirt removal)
-WD40 (for tough engine bay grime/oil removal)
-Purple Power (soaking agent for dirty/stained metal pieces)
-Engine Degreaser (GUNK works well, but WalMart brand is effective too)
-Car wash soap/shampoo
-old toothbrushes, rags, and Q-tips for those hard to reach areas of the interor
-metal brushes ($1.99 at Harbor Freight)

Will this be a weekend car or a daily driver? If a daily driver, I personally would never let my 16 year old son have this as his first car (poor crumple zones, tin-can chassis, no airbags, non-stock seats, etc). Those cars were dangerous in the early 90's...let alone now. Especially if you go putting on suspension components that'll increase the chances of oversteer (and the CRX has a short wheelbase, so twitchiness is already somewhat built-in).
It would be a fun project to do as an autox car or something...but in this day and age it would scare me to death having my kid drive a 25 year old CRX as a first car.
To each their own, however. But we were all young once and we know what happens when driving a "sporty" car at the age of 16.
Personally, stop buying ricey parts for the CRX and save that cash toward a better daily driver. Leave the CRX as a project car for the weekend.

The ebay halo's put out WAAAYYYYYY more light on the road than the stock ones do. It's a night and day difference. And that is just with normal bulbs. I went from stock to halos and back to stock. I cant believe how bad the stock ones are.... Yes, the halos look rice, but they are 100x better safety-wise than the stock ones. If you do get the halos, keep the stock ones!

You might not hit someone...but someone might hit you. Todd00 has a point. There are times when I don't feel too comfortable driving my hatch around. Our cars vs. a GMC Sierra or Yukon wouldn't be a pretty picture.

And lol...you're 13. You have no idea what the road is like, especially in a car that's so small that even an average full-size truck can't see you in its mirrors, let alone a semi.
Kids don't listen to logic...that's why they have parents to put the smack down on them. We ALL know...we've been there.

This for sure. I got a 91 si hatch as my first car and I seriously hate taking long trips at night or on the freeway in heavy rain. I'm always more worried about people hitting me in my hatch than me hitting something. If you do decided to daily drive it just drive defensively

well it's been over a year and a lot of work has been done on my car! It is almost run in with its d16y8 swap I did. All the body work was done and is awaiting a final paint color of my choice. All rust was cut out and new sheet metal welded back in. Interior was taken out cleaned and replaced back in. I painted the engine bay by myself. I also did a headlight harness tuck and it came out fully functional so far. Let me post some pics and see what everyone thinks!

Nice update!
Great to see younger kids getting into cars
For a 14 year old you're definitely beyond your years. It seems you made reasonable trade-offs for the ricer parts originally chosen.
On a side note: good choice on the D16. That's an awesome engine for your first car.

Man, I gotta say you're light years ahead of most guys your age. You're outside wrenching and working on your very own car, that's great. The skills you're learning right now will benefit you for the rest of your life and the quality time your spending with your dad is just wonderful. You're a lucky guy.
Keep in mind that folks on HT have their own style and opinions on what looks "cool" and what doesn't. Some guys here like rolled fenders with loads of camber, others like showroom fresh original OEM with a few rare overseas parts (look up the $4000 armrest), this is part of the fun and it's what makes the car enthusiast community so great. Everyone has their own flavour, so remember to take any negativity in stride.
Your style right now might not be the same when you're 16, or when your 20, but that's okay. Your car will evolve with you and as long as you don't modify anything too drastically, you can't always change it back. It's okay to throw on some "ricer" headlights, or install some funky interior lighting because it is your car and (hopefully) your money to spend. You'll learn some lessons the hard way, but that's how most folks learn. Keep it up man.
Ps. The engine bay looks solid, excellent job on the paint. That carpet came out real nice too. One small tip: you should also wash your seat belts, it's amazing how much gunk collects on them over the years. Watch this video to see an easy way how:

Keep it up. Looks like you've got a handle on it. Reminds me a lot of my fist Honda build. Check it out. https://honda-tech.com/honda-acura-2...build-3170023/
