Nice thread. Subscribed.
What pads are you going with? I don't think I could see them in the pic and missed if they were listed. My pref is the Hawk HP+.

Thanks DCRB, I will be updating a lot for sure. I'm glad someone appreciates the facts, I was beginning to wonder if anyone would ha ha. Most of the posts I see are about stupid things like "I'm gonna paint my car with some home depot paint and duct tape on my ebay intake" and they get like 100 replies and 500 views! Lol. Maybe my thread is just lame and been done 1000 times. Oh well I still enjoy writing it and sharing the knowledge

Re: My 91 crx suspension/steering/brake rebuild
Ok so todays progress was installing the ES trailing arm bushings and cleaning the pins that get inserted through them. I figured out that it doesn't matter which side of the bushing you press in because they are asymetrical. I measured and just to be sure I called up ES's tech line and they said it doesn't matter which way you install them. I chose logo out.
I pushed it in using my handy press. It took a little bit to get it centered and pushed in evenly, a second person would really help. I clamped the trailing arm to the press plate and used a small 2x4 to press it in.
Looks sooo much better.
I moved on to getting the rubber off the pin by tourching and scraping it with my knife.
Most of it off.
Tourch some more and scrape the melted rubber.
Finish by cleaning the rest off with your new favorite tool the die grinder and...Bling Bling!
It was so shiny I could see my reflection lol. It looks pretty cool and I wish I could just leave it like that but I'm pretty sure it will rust like crazy, so I'll probably paint it.

Just kidding. That poor HF press already paid for itself like 3 times in this project. Good to know it is suitable for this. Nice work, as usually.

Re: My 91 crx suspension/steering/brake rebuild
So I took off my rear tires to get ready to remove my old trailing arm and this is what I found.
A closer look.
This is what no rear camber/toe kit does. The bushings are completely out, it's just metal on metal. No wonder it sounded so bad. I think the previous owner tried to do the washer trick, which is totally lame and I'm pretty sure he did it wrong lol.

So does the new bushing allow for toe adjustment or do you have to replace the trailing arm in order to have any kind of adjustment?

Re: My 91 crx suspension/steering/brake rebuild
good stuff, subcribed
I joined the site for this thread alone lol.
I just did all the bushings and ball joints on the right passenger side of my ed recently.
I had this horrible problem, there was so much play in all the worn out suspension that my tires would come off of the car while driving (not fun at all) with the middle of the rim still attached to the hub haha!

Thanks tony
Wow man that's the best complement I've received lol thanks! I'm glad to see it's helping some people.
Well I'm off to do some more wrenching, stay tuned for more updates today.

Re: My 91 crx suspension/steering/brake rebuild
Ok so this is where I'm at now. I removed the trailing arm and all other components and was going to install the new es bushings but ran into a problem with the lower control arms. My press for some reason will not push out the metal sleeves. If I can't get them out today I am just going to buy some new ones lol. Also the previous owner DID use a camber kit, but it's completely trashed now. So I need to buy a rear camber kit as well because the es bushings are for use with the stock through bolt, not a camber bolt. Removing the trailing arm is very straight forward, I only ran into two very small snags.
One is the compensator arm. It is a very tight clearance with the bolt and body of the car, I used a one way racheting wrench but got stuck! Lol
But have no fear, if you unbolt the trailing arm bushing first it will slide down out of the way

Re: My 91 crx suspension/steering/brake rebuild
The other minor problem I ran into was the infamous ebrake cable bolt. When you unscrew it, it runs right into the pinch weld on the tank. Many people remove their fuel tanks or unbolt them to get it out of the way, some just jam the bolt to the side but this can damage the threads and it's a bitch to get back in. The best way I found was to bust out your dremel or other cutting device and cut two lines on each side of the bolt, then bend the tab up with a punch or screwdriver. I would have cut out the whole piece but you cant fit a dremel in close enough to make a horizontal cut, that's even with using a snake adapter.

Re: My 91 crx suspension/steering/brake rebuild
Here's the rear upper control arm camber bolt with super cracked bushing and snap ring and washer for some reason.
another view
Here's the lower control arm giving me trouble
The old trailing arm
This is how it sits now.
I'm super excited because I just got my new 88 accord exedy clutch disk so now I can use my 88 si tranny! Yay!
And that's what I'll be doing for the rest of today. It shouldn't take too long and if I'm lucky I'll get those bushings out too

Talk about polishing a turd. At least you are taking your time and doing everything right. And once you are finished it won't be turdish, it will actually be quite a nice treasured Honda.
ON another note, when are those wheels coming in?
