Default My 90 ef hatch "red lines" at 3500-4000

In my 90 ef hatch every since i got it the car "red lines" at 3500-4000 rpms. When the tac hits 35-4 the needle goes all the way to the end and starts to red line. What can i do to fix this??? and sometimes when im getting up to speed in 3ed or 4th the car kinda sputters like its not getting air or gas or something. or if it were getting flooded out.

My Gsr in my last Crx was doing that and it ended up being cylinder position sensor and cam sensor. Any Cel codes??

I have not checked for codes. What did you do to fix it?

It ended up being a wiring problem to the ecu from the dizzy. It was to the point where I would be driving and it wouldnt go past 3500-4k (limp mode). I pulled the cel code 9 which is cyl position sensor. After that was fixed and the code was cleared it ran great. My friends srt-4 had the same problem and it ended up being the cam sensor. Also check your tps. Check the cel code and go from there. your running obd-0 right ?

oh yeah the light has to be on. Thats extremely odd if its acting like its in limp mode but there's no cel. Have you checked your tps to make sure its calibrated correctly and functional.

I would do a little more trouble shooting to figure out what exactly is wrong with it. It sounds like a distributor problem to me. Check to make sure the map and tps plugs aren't switched, check to see if your running any codes and see if you can have your distributor tested before you go out and spend $ on parts.

Was it a short fast blink or a longer blink. I know it sounds stupid but its two different codes.

Its a heated sensor so the engine has to be running.
