Default The most offset wheel an EF can take???

I am looking for a good set of wheels for my 91 si hatch. Unfortunetly i am confused on offsets. I have done some research and most of it has shown that the lower the # , the deeper the dish. But then i see guys explaining the details of their wheels and they say that the wheel is a +40 or so, but the dish is quite deep. So is it the more + or - the offset which gives you a deeper lip. Also what is the most offset you guys have gone on a stock body (maybe rear wheel wells rolled)? Sorry for the noobish question. THANX

the lower the offset the more your wheels are going to stick out of the car. So i guess that you can say that the lip id going to be deeper. Our cars off set if right around +40.

Ok. I just always put a deep lip and the amount of offset hand in hand. So is +40 normal on our cars, if so whats the max? I really want the craziest i can go without chopping the car up. I know you can run a thinner tire so the tire tucks but the wheel sticks out so its about even or so.

Putting some +15 offset wheels on me EF in a week or so with 195/50 tires. It should fit with a fender roll and some camber work.

Oh check out rimtuck.com and search for 88-91 EF. They have some great pictures of low offset EFs with wheels specs and tire sizes.

like mr. deoro said the lower the offset the more it will stick out.. thus giving you a deeper lip. +40 is about stock.. craziest? people go 0 offset. look up low offset wheels for our car.
