LS in ef probs. need help
Have a LS in a 89 civic hatch. I am using DA axles. the hubs that are one there are civic SI. The driver side ended up messing the bearings up, swapped it with a DA and it was fine. still havent got a DA for pass side. the car recently started making a vibration. I replaced the pass side axle thinking it wus bad, the problems still there, basically just wondering if I have to use the DA hubs. And the vibration is only there when I put a load on it. driving down the road if i put it in neutral or puch the clutch in, the vibration stops, as soon as it's in gear, clutch pedal out, and push on the gas it does it again. any help would be greatly appreciated

kinda confused about the what hubs you are using. the hub/spindles form just about any car will work. DC, DA, ef SI, ef EX but the best geometry will be with the ef ones. the vibration sounds like it is a bad wheel bearing. on either side. i had a similar prob.thought it was the axles too. i pulled off ex spindles with the hub assembled and it took care of the prob. hope that helps. you can try and listen for a broken bearing if you pull the tires off and shake the brake rotors side to side there shouldnt be any play

Re: LS in ef probs. need help
i took my tire off and shook the rotor. it has a little play left to rite but not top and bottom. It looks like its the outer tie rod end that has the play. when I originally but the b18 in my car. I had SI spindles on both sides. I jacked the driverside up one day just to check on things and noticed the wheel bearing wus toast. took the hub off, put a DA one on and it seemed to solve the problem. The SI hub bearin wus good until I had to use DA axles for the b series. I could only get one DA hub at the time and it just happened to be the driver side ( the one i needed) I haven't changed the pass side so it's still SI. wut I wus wondering about that is, since the DA axle chewed up the other bearng, does that mean it's doing the same thing to the pass side?? and I thought when a wheel bearing goes out it will move top to bottom and left to rite.

yes wheel bearing up and down play....left and right is tie rods.since lvmevo says u can use the si hubs i would get new bearings on both sides to see if that is whats wrong.id start out with the cheap stuff first.

Re: LS in ef probs. need help
but when i had the si hub on the driver side, with a stock single, it was fine. as soon as I put the LS with DA axles, it was gone within a week, so than i put the DA hub on and it was fine. now I'm having probs with the pass side. which is still the si hub. will hubs off a 2000 civic ex work? i can get them for free, thanx for the info

Re: LS in ef probs. need help
so you have a stock EF knuckle and a DA knuckle on your car? BADDD idea. both of either one.
and ive never herd of an axle killing a bearing. did you remove the dust rings in the back of the bearing so the axle fits right? it could be a coincidence that the bearings went out. the car is old and abused im sure. I had one bearing replaced when i changed the studs out, but my other side is holding up just fine.
your best bet would be to use the stock EF hubs, but im pretty sure the 00 civic ones would work, your geometry will just be messed up (but better than what its at right now with mismatched knuckles).
