Default lowering spring or coilovers what eles do I need to change?...

I want to lower my 89 EF sedan what eles do I need to change beside the lowering springs or coilovers? I don't care about ride quality this will be my first droped car not gonna be picky about it. I'm not a racer or fast driver just doing it for looks. I seen some lowering springs and coilovers on ebay are those any good?

Go any lower than 1-1.5 inches and you'll blow your shocks up. The older the shocks are, the quicker they'll give up and you'll be bouncing all over the place every time you hit a bump. It's more than a comfort issue, it's unsafe.

Just get some cheap KYB GR-2s, hardly takes any more time and you'll have a much better setup. Even if it's just for looks, it'll look like a hackjob if someone sees you hit a pothole and bounce for a hundred yards.

Anytime you lower a vehicle its always best to change the struts as well, also if you lower more than about 1.5" from my understanding you will have to deal with needing to adjust the camber and buy a camber kit. And while you're there with it all apart make sure to check everything like brakes, BUSHINGS, well everything and replace as necesary. Also no matter how much you lower it you should go out and get a profesional alignment done. Good luck and post some pics of the finished product.

Every one I've ever seen is white, but the physical layout of the absorber is different for lots of makes/models so Google Images will show you lots of different versions. Wherever you buy them from will ask what kind of car you have. If you want to be really certain you can give them part numbers:

Front left: 341136
Front right: 341135
Rear (both): 341094

AFAIK all Civic and CRX front shocks are the same from 88-91, rears were different in 88 because the LCA is different. So any shocks for an 89-91 Civic hatchback, sedan or CRX will work. And GR-2s are OE replacement shocks, they're not "for lowered cars" necessarily but they'll hold up just fine since EFs are light.

Don't take this the wrong way.... but in your original post, you were way to broad. There are lots of "springs" and "coilovers" on ebay.... from the Very expensive, High quality ones and then there are the cheap, cheap.... no name cheap. If you don't care how your car rides... cut the damn coils and be done with it... that can be done for nothing. It gets the job done, but again... like Cheapy McCheapin coilovers on stock shocks you will be bouncing around looking like an idiot.

If you do buy new shocks, you could even do OE replacements on the cheap and they will be way better than your 20 yr old ones and then buy a name brand spring. That will be better than what you have now.

Lastly, Anytime you lower your car more than an inch or so... YOU WILL need and alignment AND a camber kit if you would like to keep your tires happy for a long time. Just because someone on Honda-Tech posted a thread... does not make it gospel etc. You don't NEED a camber kit if you don't care about wearing your tires out very quickly. Search craigslist in your area, bet you can find all kinds of stuff cheap on there. If not, ebay: name brand spring, camber kit and then go get an alignment. Done

I did the cheep ebay thing... the front was fine but the rear was way to low. My 4DR was pointed up-hill to the moon. And yes they were installed right. :-)
Check out my not so right solution...

As stated I was just stating my impression. I would still get a good kit though despite what the link says. My tires were wearing out after 1200 miles (but I'm sure most of that misalignment is due to the driver rear shock being blown. Its your project and it's up to you in the long run, you asked for advise and I just gave .02 of my cents.
